well due to my smashed in rear quarter panel i plan on going widebody but i have a problem . due to the fact the wide body kit adds 2 inches per side i need to go with some wider wheels. I was really looking to get some prodrive P1's (which are 7.5" wide) but they would require a spacer 1 inch thick. i have heard spacers wear out your bearings really fast, anyone know if this is true? if i dont go with spacers i would have to get something along the lines of a 8" wide rim with a 32mm offset or a 9" with a 38mm offset. I have also heard that this will lead to premature bearing wear. So what to do??? :dunno pics of the gimmies gears kit i would be going with.
before you do the kit, make very sure that you've got the $ and time to make sure that you have wheels ready. you're going to be hard pressed to find a wheel that is going to fit your needs. many people go into doing a widebody/flared car but don't go the right path on wheels to to do it right. 2 inches/side is a good bit, and a 8 inch wide wheel probably still won't do. the wheels may almost come close to filling out the profile of the car being flush with the fenders, BUT hows it gonna look to you if you've got a 235 or a 245 under there when you really should be going to a 8.5 or even 9 inch wide wheel with a 255 or bigger. just food for thought. i helped a a guy get his wheels/tires combo right for his car and he wasn't ready when i told him he'd need about $5k and 3-4 months to get them cuz they where being custom made food for thought...
yeah, 9 is probably gonna be what i need, ive done some math and figured that a 9" wheel with a 35-38mm should fit perfect, there just arent very many 9" wide wheels that look good to me, but i guess beggers cant be choosers.
