Hey guys, i need some help with choosing a TBE. I had my mind set on an APS 3inch Single Tip Catted TBE which i can get for around $1200 new which is the best deal i ve found so far. im really excited about getting the exhaust becuase its decently quiet, very stock looking, and premium quality at a decent price. the ONE thing keeping me from gettin it though is the downpipe style. on the APS, they have the divorced wastegate style dp and the next runner up i was looking into getting was the cobb which is almost the same tbe but it has a bellmouth style dp. with future hp goals im not sure if the diffrence in dp styles will effect the numbers. some realistic goals i had was a 20g + meth injection on the stock TMIC :sx: . I ve read there isnt much of a diffrence but ust wanted to make sure with the public to see if there was a difrent opinion. any help is greatly appreciated! Shawn
i don't know if this will help you out... i'm running full APS exhaust, Uppipe & TBE + i've got the APS SR40 and i'm getting very close to 300whp. Put down 287whp & 278tq, but was badly out of tune and knocked on third pull. Got ECUTek and SS tune but haven't dynoed yet, but car is running very strong now. oh, and i've got a WRX... just realized you got an STi (still hopes this helps ya)
thanks for the input! i do see a lot of people running the aps tbe, i just need to find one thats putting out pretty good numbers on a 20g. along with all the aps owners, i seee a lot more aftermarket dp's with the bellmouth design which make me wonder ya know..
I've got an APS turboback with the divorced downpipe. I'm having decent boost creep with my little VF29 and Siegel said that it was because of the APS downpipe design. I'd ask him about it since he's tuned many cars with different downpipes.
