well, i showed up at my dad's garage to get the parts and install... My dad said he got the full complete package from them. so we start opening... and.... i notice something something is missing...
nah.... dad, not being a tuner, but a muscle car builder, didn't have the up-pipe in the package to install that day... i was annoyed more because i knew the dp would have to come off to go back in and do the up-pipe, but then remembered i was getting it for free. Oh well, it just means i get to try things in increments (which is what i wanted to do anyway.) Anyway, got the muffler, the resonator delete, the high flow cat, and the downpipe with its own high flow cat. I forget, sometimes, how much i have to learn from him as he had the whole thing pretty much disassembled in about 20 minutes (using mooses quick guide to bolt sizes :] ). Impact tools rule, and using them I was actually productive. we also cut into the heat shield for the turbo so we could re-use it. cranked it up. i REALLY like the sound. it is very sedate at idle & cruise. I mean, i can speak as calmly and quitely as i could without all this work. Only when you stomp it does it give major throat. but most importantly, I can powerbrake and stall clear up to 2800 for a more neck snapping launch. I'm very statisfied, and i'll prolly get the up-pipe in another month. after that, electrical grounding upgrade, tranny cooler, hoses and radiator cap, and maybe a swaybar set.
Glad you got it in, and bummer about the missing uppipe. At least you know how to R&R the DP for next time. ;-)
nice!! yea..turbo back is an easy install..the uppipe is where you will need to use more skill and patience
Yeah someone else with a random tech exhaust!!!! Like you said it's really not too loud unless you get on it...I love mine...
yeah i like the sound alot. Oh and thats a barracuda back there, its body is in bad shape, but it runs 11s. its the 2nd one he built in 10 years, the first was a fastback. I have more pics of it somewhere... will look when i git home
I hate to say this but when you get more power you'll be able to get the TC to stall even higher:eek3: The highest the stocker will go is 3300 (dont know how much power it will take to load it up that much). Mopar rocks!! Still gotta get the Fury running . . .
Yeah, I imaging the up-pipe will bring the spool-up to a lower point in the revs, right? rawr... thx again moose and gtscoob for givin me some extra answers.
I've always read great things about Random Tech stuff. Thought about getting their dp, but decided against it due to shipping restraints. Yummmy, Barracuda... That's my favorite body style too. Let me know if he ever decides to sell it.
if you mean the fastback, he already sold it if you mean this one, he'll get rid of it now if you're serious. pm me, bud
is that down near highway 16 in Senoia? I used to drive past two big trucks like that whenever going to my gfs old house.
3rd day. I like it. Tall 1st gear on the auto doesn't feel so bad anymore... i do have a question. Since I didn't do the up-pipe, should I bother doing the Vishnu ECU trick?
one thing ive observed about the ECU trick... if u cheat the AM to come up quick, it might drop down real quick too... ive seen it fall down if i trick it to come up and then suddenly give it heavy load in a high gear
not sure what year that one was, the last one was a 67. But this one is still for sale. and I still havent had a chance to install the UP.
