DOES new cars have governors (sort of)

I tested both the 2005 and 2006 wagons and the 2006 i did feel a difference but then again the 2005 Wagon I tested at (SOG) [red one] felt sluggish.

Does the new cars have some sort of electronic governor or restrictor. The cars dont seem to have the "oomph" of what i was hoping (stock).

I also noticed the 2-3 gear is quite far apart. Anyone has the gear ratios of the wagon ?

Combination of CL/OL funkiness in the stock ECU and a cat in the stock uppipe makes a bone stock WRX a little unresponsive and sluggish...

 

See if somebody will let you their WRX with basic exhaust mods; doing UP/DP will increase the spool time and the low end a good bit.

I'll get back on the gear ratios.

till i read some of the post here i was a little down. On my way home from SOG i said to myself, i sold my SR20DET, and for 3x more$ im only getting 1/2 the fun :wtc:

Actually the low end of the stock 2006 was not bad (maybe because of AWD) but the 3rd gear was a let down on the 2005 the 2006 was better

 

On a stock WRX 3rd gear and up will feel weak. Like said above, remove the stock uppipe cat and it gets a little better. Do Engine Management and it is a whole different beast.

Have you riden in a modded WRX? If so, it will completely kill your perception of the car. I know that when I first got my WRX, it felt great. Then I rode in someones slightly modded WRX and mine just felt pathetic.

Now, I have done full exhaust, EcuTek and STi Top Mount and the car once again felt great. That feeling is wearing off a little now that I am used to it, time for more power mods.

That's probably just the extra .5L kicking in. 06s come with a 2.5L motor that I believe is the exact same hardware as the STIs but with different heads perhaps? There's a lot of speculating as to how similar the motors really are.

If you are asking me, the answer is never. I don't have the money for things like turbos and injectors. My next mod is still going to be the car PC once Amol finishes his and I get my bonus check in March, assuming that I don't flip out at work and torch the place, or tell them to fuck off and get fired.

 

bonus checks are nice!!! :naughty: we usually get one every month but probably not as big as some places....enough to have fun with though.....
