Its on the way and will be revealed as soon as i get it. Its almost a done deal but never know till we sign on the line. Im already itching for a few things but nothing drastic. Its a bone stock wagon. Does anyone have a guideline to step by step in increasing the performance and handling of these toys. Of course the $ is linked with the mods. I was thinking very very minimum mods just to let it breathe right and has to be super stealth (sleeper) Intake and exhaust Whats a best bang for the $ intake and exhaust. I know there are 4 cats in the system and which one will give it the most oomph if gutted
so what year and what color are you getting?...wagons are sweet...there was an 06 at RA....super nice :bigthumb:
05 2.0L Black I debated a long time with the 06 2.5L but the wallet won Its not a done deal yet so i rather try to restrain me posting more and calling it mine. I still have the check$. I have to drive a long way to get it home but call it a road trip
Black 05 wagon.. excellent choice. It has three cats.. you'll get the most power from removing/replacing the two after the turbo, and better response from removing the one before the turbo. I would recommend doing uppipe/downpipe, maybe a full catback if you want some more noise. Then an AccessPort stage 2 map (around $450-500 for a used AP) and you will see some 280-ish c rank on average; not to mention the car will be much much smoother... Then later on, as you upgrade more stuff, get Doug to ProTune it with the maps you need.
for the money spent, it wont give u much in terms of power gains... definitely will make it sound cooler if u do get an intake, make sure it is of the factory diameter... i have an injen and it sounds awesome
If you just want some more noise, you can cut off/remove the silencer... it won't be quite as noisy as an intake but it's free and does make a difference. Also, on an '05 I HIGHLY recommend engine management as soon as possible. Mainly because of the CL/OL switch being delayed... it'll only get aggravated if you mod it more before doing EM.
Hack the silencer, gut the UP, get a downpipe with a high-flow cat (or catless if you'd like). That should get you to around 215whp for the price alone of the downpipe of your choice (a couple hundred $, cheap ones can be found used). Throw engine management on top of that and you're looking at another 25whp or so and a lot smoother running car. Ecutek is $850, AP is around $500. You can save money getting used UTECs or ECUs with Ecutek licenses on them already. Wagons are pretty sleeper already, if you keep the stock axle back nobody will know that you've got a 240whp WRX.
