I've been thinking about putting my heat shield back on my turbo and/or doing some kind of heatwrap for the DP. Any suggestions on what I should do and what the bennifits of it all would be?
you see that little tube running right next you the dp/turbo? thats the power stearing fluid line.. his burned up started spraying that everywhere.. he had a little fire
thought that was the ac condensation thingy or are you talkin about somewhere else. dang every time I think I dont have to mess with something again...gotta loosen top dp bolts to put on bracket for heatsheild. hopefully getting the cobb heat sheild soon or just putting my old one cut out already.
I've had my heatshield off for over a year, no problems so far. As for DP wrap, do it. It will help with heat scavenging.
I do notice the engine area where the dp is is much hotter now and mor heat comming from engine that means the ic is getting more heat too. Is it an issue of wether or not it's to tight or loose? heard some peeps saying That could cause some kind of condensation build up or something is that true?
Mine headers are ceramic coated and then has the wrap. no worries for condensation. The DP is SS so it doesn't matter anyway. No rusting.
no, not the tube ALL the way in the button but right were the dp and the turbo meet look to the left, 2 of em the black one is the powerstearing fluid one
I used to use heat wrap on the headers on my old chevy small block builds. They really can be advantageous for keeping things cool. Some of the engine compartments that I shoved V8's in were little tiny and it really made a huge difference in the temp of the engine bay. I had a 63 Nova SS in particular that just had a tiny engine bay and the heat under the hood was getting rediculous. After wrapping the headers I could literally shut it down, pop the hood and touch the header. It was hot, don't get me wrong, but try doing that with an unwrapped header and you are gonna melt the skin to the header. My coolant temp also dropped from 220 down to 210 where it was supposed to run.
