Hey. I recently installed some Defi gauges (boost, egt, and oil pressure). I've searched a little and found out a few things, but I still want to learn more...

I want to know how to better read my egt and oil pressure gauges. Information like what the peak should be for each (1600F egt? oil?), what normal numbers are, and what a particularly low or high number represents as far as what my engine is doing. Post any good links you know of. Thanks.

I believe with the EGT, if you see any readings above 1400 during normal driving, you may have a problem. If you are on the track that is different, but during normal driving, it should not go above 1400.

I use my EGT kind of like a Turbo Timer. I don't shut down the car until the EGT reads below 800.

Ok, so the 1600 that I've read is more of a peak for at the track?

I believe so. The only times I was on the track I was too busy focusing on the road that I didn't even look up at the gauges. I just remember Porter telling me when he first helped install the gauges that if I ever see above about 1400 during normal driving to come back because there may be a problem. Also I think he said that at temps higher than that, there is a chance of burning the EGT Sensor. Maybe SS or somebody else will chime in with more detailed info on the EGT readings.

I know what you mean about paying attention, that's why I'm glad the Defis have a record function.

I found these oil pressure numbers on Nasioc... do they sound right?
    idle- around 25-30 lbs
anything higher than idle- 80-90 lbs

Sorry, don't know anything about the Oil Pressure Gauge, don't have one, just the EGT, Boost and a Narrow Band A/F (Dancing Light that serves no purpose)
