I want to start a new post so it wont dilute the other post. Recently last couple of weeks i noticed my car was ticking in 2-4th gear between 2600-3700 rpm during easy acceleration and more prominent when AC is on. I have two full tank of gas (possible cause but i cannot confirm) from this gas station - I always use SHELL but not always same location pump. Car has 11400 miles with no power mods other than Cobb AP - Stage 1 93 octane. I was debating this morning what to do and here is my list and like to get your suggestion 1. Revert back to stock (no AP) 2. Change real time map to 91 octane 3. Add Fuel addictive - octane booster 4. Add cleaner - Fuel inj cleaner like techron, sea foam, etc,.... 5. Clean intake manifold with cleaner - seafoam 6. wait till almost empty(gas) and pump at BP 7. check timing and adjust (dont have timing gun with me at the moment) ANy suggestions greatly appreciated and please provide a reason why i should do certain task so i can better understand your approach. TIA
how loud is the ticking and where does it sound like it's coming from. Because it may be the AC compressor for the airconditioner. The sound has to be explained a little better. I would take it to a Subaru dealership if possible and have them check it out or SAAB whatever one is closest.
unlikely thats its the compressor. have the same tick even ac off. I dont think the saab here in memphis has seen a 92x so im reluctant to get it there. I may take a few hours to get car to subaru. Its not loud at all its so faint unless you look for it you wont hear it
ok cool Your best bet would be to get it to suabru then Since it is a subaru motor, have them check it out to be safe. Good Luck!
I switched my AP real time maps to Stg1 91 Oct. But Im not sure it did it ? Because my Base map is 93 octane and i cant seem to find a way to display what realtime map is in use. Anyone knows how to figure out what base map is being used ?
OK I turned the WG end 1.5 turns and the ticking has greatly reduced but still exists but only very little between 3000 and 3500 only and even less noticeble. I dont have a Boost gage and my AP cable needs to be sent back due to a pin loose so im not goin to even try plugging it in and use it as boost indicator. I shorten the arm by turning the end1.5 turns. with 1 full turn the arm was still able to slide on the post but with 1.5 turn i have to stretch it just a tad to get the arm on the post to reinstall, Do you guys think i over adjusted it ? Its a PITA to get the turbo shield of
the car is suppose to run on 93 octane minium so changing maps dont matter until the octane levels r higher then 93.. btw it seems something small but i have some clicking noise when ac on and it decress my speed on real time mode..
