Electronic Boost Controllers?

Just curious what other people are using for aftermarket, not ECU controlled EBC's. I have an Apexi AVC-R on my car and the map sensor broke last night. Trying to decide on replacing just the MAP sensor or just getting a new EBC. I like some of the features of the HKS EVC VI but know nothing about it. I also like the features of the TurboXS DTEC Boost Controller, but again, know nothing else about it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We run the HKS EVC's on almost every TT350 and GT-R at Forged...

I used the DTEC's YEARS ago and while they were awesome in theory we went through 7, yes SEVEN, firmware versions and none of them worked even almost properly...

The most reliable setup that I've seen is an appropriate wastegate spring and a Hallman Pro MBC...

After having the AVCR and DTEC, I now have the Hallman MBC with the in car mounted extension knob. It has been the best so far without a doubt.

I am running GM 2 Bar and Hallman Pro MBC hybrid setup. One thing we ran into was when told WG cycle to be 100% at 90-100 throttle it wasn't doing 100% WG cycle for first few secs then would do 100% so unhooked the GM till we diagnose that. Good setup none the less.

Greddy Profec B spec 2 is a pretty sweet setup. I may have one of those map sensors, Ill look for it tonight.

How did you verify that the WG is not 100%

I use a Greddy ProfecB Spec 2 on my car and have never had any issues with it. I only run 18 psi though. Not quite sure how well it handles higher boost.

Electronic boost controllers are not nearly as reliable as a Hallman Pro at higher than 21 psi boost.

Yeah, I have read the same about high boost applications. Maybe I should just get a Hallman and a good Boost Gauge and call it a day.

Actually, I was told to check out the Gizzmo EBC. After further readings...it seems this one can control boost up to 3.5 bar(50psi) and a lot of high HP drag racers have been using it with great success. It is relatively cheap too because it is a no nonsense EBC. No fancy bells and whistles. Made have to look into it further if my AVCR keeps coming back with unstable boost.

Datalogs, it finally did hit 100% WG duty later, but after it was 87 87, 89, 90, 90, 90,92......etc at 100% throttle when it should have been 100% WG duty to begin with. Mike can probably elaborate on that, but as of now...i have disconnected the GM, and running Hallman. We thought GM was acting up.

I have switched to 21psi spring pressure, and was running spring during datalogs with hybrid setup so i don't know if that has to do something WG duty and GM trying to control it? What do you think why i wasn't able to hit 100% WG at 100% throttle when it was being told to do so?
