Does anyone know what can be done about the dreaded P0457 code. It's not the gas cap, I have thoroughly checked all hoses front to rear from the charcoal canister and every vacuum line and they are all fine. I desperately need to pass emissions and I do not know what to do. This car has been a pain in my @$$ ever since I bought it. $8,000 later and I can not pass emissions. I have no more money and do not want to take it back to the same shop again for the forth time. I would appreciate any help that anyone will offer. Now here is a little background info on my car. Day after I bought it the motor ate itself. Three months later and $7,000 it has a new built motor (piston's and rod's) and a GT35R rotated mount set-up. Did the proper break-in mileage for the car and got it tuned and now I am stuck with a car that I have spent $21,000 on, including the price of the vehicle, and can not get my tag to drive it. I am in WRX limbo. I love this car dearly and just want to be able to drive it without worrying about it. Please help.

check the evap hoses behind the atlernator, maybe one slipped of the nipple. have you tried to clear the code with a scanner and see if it comes back? i got a little scanner if you need it.

    Liquid pm'd.

Yes I have checked the vacuum hoses behind the alternator. Originally I thought this was the problem b/c there where two spaces where their should have been lines. So I fixed that cleared light and still the problem persists.
Thanks for your input, and your offer. I really appreciate it. The only thing I have seen that does not have vacuum lines where there should be is the wastegate solenoid. There should be two vacuum hoses that are suppose to be there but alas they are not. I do not think that would cause a P0457, it would generate a wastegate solenoid code. Right?

Update. Yesterday I went to my parents house to have lunch. Went to leave and started my car to let it warm up. After it was to operating temperature put my son in the car and started to leave; the car died and would not start right back up. Let it sit for ten minutes and the car started went to take off again and it died again. Finally ten minutes later started it again and started leaving got to the end of my parents driveway and it died again. Did this two more times and finally had it started and revved it up a little bit and it starts spitting, sputtering and not revving smoothly at all. It was fine on the way to my parents house and now it is not. Anyone have any ideas? I am open to all suggestions.

Damn Chad, what in the world is happening. I would get that puppy up to TopSpeed asap, not sure I would take it to that shop again either...great guys but not subaru experts like the TS crew. Maybe if you can get her up to Andretti's tonight we can give her a once over and see if something stands out, maybe someone with opensource can datalog it for you or at least check it out.

    Found this on club wrx:

To the right of the turbo inet pipe, behind the power steering pump, under the intake manifold there is a evap solenoid. There should be a blue vacuum coupling/connector.It comes disconnected very easily and could be your culprit.Causes a vaccum leak and crappy idle as well.

Its back at you know where and they said it is throwing a cel for crank position sensor, but that is also a preliminary inspection. They have not been able to actually inspect it.
Ming I have one of your AOS on my car and it works great. Thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it. I am really tired of this, but I guess that is the price we pay for going fast.
Mike do you go up to Andretti's every Monday? If so I will start going, if I can keep my car for over a week without something happening.
    Thanks for the input guys.

    Update

Got my car back today and it seems to be running fine. I Have no check engines lights yet but I have only driven about 30 miles. I went to get emissions but the drive cycle was not completed yet. So I hope that after I put some more miles on the car and complete the cycle I will have no CEL's(finger's crossed). Hope everyone is doing well and thanks for the input.

    Update

My car broke down again last night. I went out this morning and bought a code reader. I have five codes now. I have a P0335, P0336, P0340, P0341, and a P0604. They are crank shaft position sensor and circuit malfunction, camshaft position sensor and circuit malfunction, and a ECU RAM flash error. I can also hear coolant bubbling in the turbo(GT35R) after the car is fully warm. It also will not crank up after the car is fully warmed. Clear the codes and they come right back as soon as the car gets warm again. Anyone have any ideas? It has a new crankshaft position sensor since last friday. Thanks for any input anyone has to offer.

The wiring harness is loose or the ecu is fried. Im betting its the connectors by the battery are not connected completely.
