    Hey guys,

I came home from fall break and my parents said that I am supposed to get my emissions done. I thought that GA law was to where 02 and newer cars dont need their emissions tested; have any of you guys had to test yet? My car is an 02 btw.

I'm just kinda nervous because of the single-cat turboback and my Perrin CEL fix which I'm not to thrilled about testing.

if the car was originally purchased in 01 which it probably was, it will need to have emissions tested. the law is a new car does not need to be tested for 3 years, so i figure your cars time is up. hopefully you'll pass, but if you dont, its not a problem just yet. you get 1 more try before the make you spend $400 to fix your car to make it legal. they are required to do a ODBII test and a visual, if the last cat in the system is there you shouldnt have a problem with the visual and if your car isnt throwing a CEL due to the lack of one cat then it wont show up on the scan. if they try and do a sniff test stop them at all costs, they are not required to so they shouldnt, im sure failing only because of the sniffer would piss you off plenty, so you must not let them do one. good luck, and if you fail ill help you tink of some ways of passing:D .

you should be fine man. My buddy has an 02 WRX and has no cats, and some how passed. Im not saying he passed just pure alone. Im sure there was some cash that was put on the table. Just letting you know if you don't pass.

well my parents asked the emissions people about it when they took our other cars up and I didnt have to go :)

I should pass an OBDII scan because of the Perrin O2 Simulator but just need to check. My girlfriend's uncle runs a shop that fixes emissions stuff so I'm gonna have him scan it and see if anything pops up.

I'll check with one of my friends about shady emissions places. He ran a catless Prelude, Eclipse, and RX-7 and got them all to pass at various times.

my 86 jag passed emissions with almost all 0's:D my exhuast pipe was, for the most part, hanging off the car, so no exhaust went through:D . the funny thing is, is that i told him and he just didnt care. im pretty sure if anyone needs help, this guy by me will do everything in his power to pass you, atleast thats what he did for me.

With ODB-II cars, if you CEL light isn't on and none of the checks have been disabled (rare) you will pass just fine. Mostly places don't even do a visual inspection for a cat, and certainly any even remotely cool place won't bother.

If you have an O2 simulator (aka CEL fix), you should be fine without any extra help.

Talked to a guy named Jeremy yesterday. He works at an emissions place on 78 near my gym. I have seen his Red RS 04 wagon by the emissions place for awhile, anyway, this thread prompted me to go over and say "hey!" He confirmed pretty much everything on this thread, except, he said Georgia is considering reimplementing visual Cat checks. However, unless the Emissions person was a car enthusiast and a Subaru enthusiast to boot, I doubt they would know to check for 3 cats. Seemed like a cool guy and said he would check this forum out.

I'm sorry to hijack/dredge up this whole thread, but I was wondering if you guys could answer a pretty specific emissions question I have.

The car is a 2005 WRX, and it is registered in Florida, and I presume it will stay registered in Florida, unless there is some reason why I would have to register it to Georgia because it will be here at least 4 years.

In Florida (where I was from) no one ever had to worry about emissions. My buddy ran a catless mustang GT for years with absolutely no problem.

Should I/how much should I be worrying about emissions testing here in Atlanta?

Not too much, unless you are thrwing CEL's.

Im not even sure its time for your car to smog yet. I have an 04 and I wasnt required to smog it yet. So im sure you will be exempt.

Let's say that I do get called upon to have an emisions test.
There will be prior notice, right? I've heard of up to six weeks notice before one has to report and get tested.
Anyway, enough time to go back to stock to pass the test, I hope.
