Hope this is in the right forum, seeing as how I'm new I have no idea where most things go...but this looked right. Anyway, I feel like doing an Engine Swap on my 93 Legacy L Wagon. Any info or suggestions as to what kind of engine to use, where to get it, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated:wavey: Thanks!
Basically I'd like to get rid of my [I think]1.8L engine with 200k+ miles on it with something a little more powerful, something zippier, and hopefully shinier
Its an EJ22E...aka 2.2. You could go with an N/A 2.5. Or an EJ20G... Or an EJ205... Or an EJ207... Or an EJ257.... Or an EZ30.... Or...
shininess=hp Depends what you want to do, each motor has it's own relative power potential, if you know what kind of power you want to make then you can pick a motor. Yes more than one motor can make the same power, but some with more or less torque, revs, etc.
Well, I know very little about cars. I'd really just like quicker acceleration and the ability to haul more heavy stuff without losing speed. Also I'd like an engine that doesn't start to totally suck at everything when I go up past 90mph. hope that helps.
Well just to let you know, none of the Subaru engines are renowned for their top-end. I'm not saying it's got nothing up high, I'm just saying that generally you'll be a lot more impressed when zipping through the lower gears.
Sounds good. Bwa ha ha EDIT: great, so a flippin' EJ257 is gonna set me back a few grand. Oh well, I'll work on it. Thanks!
I've got one for sale. And a wiring harness....AND an ECU...and all the other parts you needs. It would end up costing you around 6k in parts.
You could do jdm ej20 swaps for 2k in parts + labor. Nad auto has engine/tranny combos for that price all the time. Your car is also obd-1 so the swap would be emissions legal.
I'm being conservative.... that 600/600 number would be if he had another 6k ontop of the 6k to make that.
Yeah. My friend Erin got a lot more injured than I did - she was on the passenger's side, where we got hit.
