    Ok, the review…

I just bought a set of 17x8 (45mm off-set) Enkei Racing RPF1s. They fit perfectly on my 05 sedan. They just barely hang outside the wheel well. When I get new springs I might have to worry about the fenders rubbing. But for now its good.

They're wrapped with 245/40ZR -17 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec. ($179 ea. someone asked)

The info you all provided was perfect for replacing the rotors/pads. Thanks again.

So, first off, let's talk wheels. They weigh in with tires at 41.6 lbs. The stock 02 wheels with OLD RE-11s weigh 38.8 lbs. So, 17x7 rather then 16x7 wheels and more rubber is only about 4 lbs. more; with the same outside diameter because I can fit a 40 profile rather then a 50 profile. All good things.

We had an auto-x on Sunday. It poured! But, new tires helped out a lot. I had the fastest morning time and was only slower to a Vette running on a dry surface for 2 of his runs. (1 ss 26 Christian XXXXXX 43.455, 2 stx 22 Randall Wilkinson 46.531) The car even beat all the STU class. The STi's :)

I also ran OT in the third run group, so I got a few dry runs, also. I got it down to 42.7. I might have had the fastest time of the day, which NEVER happens. The turn-in is amazing. I can't believe how much better the wheels/tires really are. I was able to cut right into the in-side pointer cones. Usually the car's pushing until I can get it to rotate with trail-braking in a turn, which pushes me to the outside of the turns, but points me in the right direction when the tires do hook-up. Amazing improvement! I had 38 psi in each tire and felt little if any tire roll.

Now the brakes. I bought a set of HP-S (street/sport pads) a year ago. The improvement was there, initial bight was improved. But they still had a lot of fade in them. The new pads i put on are the HP-Plus (mainly a racing pad) and their "quiet" rotors. There's cheaper rotors out there, but I like that Hawks are made in the USA. I bedded them on 285/78 for a few minutes like the box says. The initial bite and when they get heat in them is 10 time more powerful then the HP-S pads on OEM rotors. I think I'm more impressed with the pads and rotors then I am with the wheels. I can't believe what i was missing out on.

On track they're just as great. When I stabbed the brakes, they didn't just scrub speed, they stopped the car. I can go into a turn a good 10 ft. closer now. Absolutely worth the price! It turns out I hadn't really bedded the brakes fully. At the end of the run in the braking area, sparks would fill the wheels, it looked like they were on fire. Cool on a video game, not as cool in real life. Actually, it's kind of scary. Nothing was burned or damaged, but I'm glad it was raining out none the less.

Hands down, the wheels and brakes are worth their price. They're definitely helping me keep the car competitive against some of the best auto-x drivers Atlanta has to offer.

Like the wheels just lower the car a bit.

    PS
Love the cone rash on the car...gives it some kick ass character!!!!!

Yeah, you have to kill some cones before you can go faster...

I need to bring her in to you guys. There's no low end. My guys in Decatur can't find the ghost. Runs great above 3k, below not so much.
