So just rencently I am getting laser alarms when I push to 5k rpms....

I know that they are fales alarms after making several slow speed pulls and a gew U turns. I am going to do a bit more research and see what I can find and get back :sx:

This is a common issue... apparently the Escorts have an issue with STI's... There's several threads on this on IWSTI.com that I'll dig up when I get a chance.. basically your fudged.. you can try to send it back to Escort and go thru all that hassle, or you can just get a V1 like I did and not worry about it.

i had issues on my WRX as well. it would ALWAYS ping X BAND every 5 seconds, so i shut it off. And then every now and then i would have a problem with K and Ka bands doing the same thing

I have to admit, while we're on the subject.. I'm not too crazy about my V1 either... There are WAY to many false alerts to make this thing effective. Try going anywhere near a walmart or kroger.. or just drive in a congested city area. The thing goes off like world war 3 is happening! I love the arrows, and if there actually is a cop, it'll tell you before most other detectors do but... your so desensetized seeing that thing go off you might miss it. I drive with the sound off most of the time. And sad part is, if you get hit with laser, your pretty much fucked anyways.. unless the cop hits someone in front of you, the alert you get from a laser hit is just a fancy "your getting pulled over" warning... Sucks but its true. If I had the cash I'd get a fancy jamming system, but even those seem to be suspect wether they work great or not...... Sorry, didn't meen to pee in everyones cheerios........................

    no problem with mine

I read somewhere saying the metal shields inside the radar detector might not seal well around the edges. So if you are adventurous to open it up and solder the edges a bit

i think i've learned over the years, just to do the speed limit in town. cuz i'm tired of listening to the damn false alarms. and only plug it in on the interstate/highway.

i have the 9500i with GPS, which is very nice... and I've noticed mind do this twice now. Not every time. It started recently.

You may also get the laser false alarm when you move your headlight leveling system. It's probably caused by a power fluctuation or something.

AND!!! a friend of mine has an 8500 in his Miata and it does it on his at WOT also. So it's not just our cars.

Yeah I have read everything from WOT, IC sprayer, windshield wipers, blinkers, having it hardwired, and so forth. I have read that the capacitors go bad because they are cheap and you can open them up and soder new ones in, to just send it back and pay anywhere from 45 bucks to 75 bucks and escort will referb it and turn down the sinsitivity of the laser...hummm...

oh and to put a capacitor on the powerline to cut down on volt spikes and I am sure that it is not just subys. It just bewilders me why it is intermitant and just started. I also read that the elements have just worn on them...

All I know is that the Ka band has always the signal I truly fear...and that seems to work just fine for me

I've got the Beltronics RX65 and I get false laser alarms fairly often when the sun is low on the horizon from the glare. It seems to be worse after I have washed the car and it's all shiny.

It can get pretty aggravating at times since the laser warning is designed to REALLY get your attention.
