Ill be done by 12-1 on Wed. and maybe, just maybe, SoG will have the parts to fix my car in by then...
here's a summary of what happened today: we slapped it on the dyno first cuz scott wanted to get pretty plots... he said a smooth tune on the road will have a lot of wiggles on a dynapak... after a bunch of pulls he got it smooth and started adding power... however, at the end of it, the engine bay was so heat soaked that it didn't want to run much timing at all... the best we managed to pull on the dyno was the 276/277 run u see above... also note the boost peaking at under 19.2 and tapering to about 15.5 at redline we then got on the road hoping that the HUGE hood scoop would cool the engine bay and allow him to add more timing… which in fact it did but not much… its running about 1 degree more throughout, boosting at 20 peak and tapering to 14.5 at redline… we also dropped a higher boost map in there with a 21 peak and tapering to 16 at redline… that one was not too happy with timing up top… scott and doug both think I could be bad gas since that’s been goin on lately…unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to dyno it after the road tune cuz it was time for scott to go home at the end of it all, the car pulls much HARDER than before and that’s enough to put a smile on my face… scott spent a lot of time tweaking little things to try to get everything just right… I was out there all day but scott believes he only spent 3 hours actually tuning it… and since he’s SOOOO generous with his time, he charged only 2 hours :bigthumb: here are some logs after the last run on the road
Looks like you're hitting full boost around 3700-3800 RPM. Sound about right to you? A/F ratios look suh-weet. Just a hair under 11:1.
Well, still waiting for a ride. Looks like Scott did a great job on the tuning. Everything's nice and smooth. We'll see how my upgrade goes, hopefully will produce decent results too... hnoes:
im cuious to see how much power it actually put down after the road tune... guess i'll have to go dyno at TS in the near future regardless the car pulls real hard and all the logs are SMOOOOOOOTH... i am a happy customer :wiggle:
the numbers look smooth and solid...so was it only the heat factor that kept him from squeezing more? i've seen a few sti's that have a fog-light port for their cai... i'm wondering how hard/expensive it would be to run one on each side and up to the bay just for ambient cooling purposes. the driver's side looks pretty crowded as is. has anyone else thought about/tried doing this?
we believe it was primarily heat but i also might have gotten bad gas... the last time, i filled up at a QT right by a friend's house... they only had 93 and it was flowing from only 3 out of 12 pumps... i couldve gotten the bottom of the tank or worse, adultrated
Congrats.... Looks great Milo. I'm sure there's more to be had if not for the heat soak issues with the top mount...none the less, excellent! Another great job by Scott. ~Gary
great number!! I guess super 16g will be plenty capable to push over 300whp with FMIC. congratz~ oh yeah, which fuel injectors did you use?? do u know duty cycle of them as well??
nice numbers milo. i guess if kris's vf22 does 260 then 276 for the 16g is nice. i was thinking it was goin to be way closer to 300hp if not a lil more. bambooi put down better numbers on a stock tmic and a vf22 than both of you guys. milo im glad your happy. sorry bout the lil rant.
Good numbers, thats about what you should expect out of a 16g, quick spool and fairly solid boost all the way to redline.
bambooi put down 274/270 with a vf22 and a stock topmount kris put down 260 with a vf22, stock top mount and an uppipe leak i put down 276/277 on the dyno but on the road we got it to run a pound more boost and an additional degree of timing across the board... unfortunately didn't get to dyno it again after that either way theres no point comparing dyno numbers on cars that have been dyno'd at different places on different days...
thanks... i like it... we're gonna log it again when i get a full tank of fresh gas and see if it seems eager to run more timing
probably... but only if it seems to react better... otherwise i can just remain happy with the conservative tune i have
Milo, Like I told you yesterday, I would be REAAAALLLLYYYYY Happy to have a conservative 200whp tune, let alone 276!!!
