Anyone have some time tommorow to help me install a FMIC? I am comfortable with the install but not so much with cutting the bumper up. Please help an old man out. It will be good for your Karma.
me and Mike helped out Weapon WRX and it was not fun at all. there were lots of sparks, melted plastic, beating and banging, i think Chris cried some. Im not sure about that though. Be brave brother and you will have great results on the other end.
Cutting the bumper isn't bad at all. Put down a strip of tape along the line you want to cut, and use a dremel. Make sure the chuck of the dremel does not make marks in the plastic you're not wanting to cut; don't ask how I know this.
genya laid down a strip of tape and used a box razor for his and it looked really good..and for the record i wasnt crying I had melted bumper in my eye
hey mike give me a call when you wake up or are ready to start I'll be over in a zip I sent you my cell number
cough, cough, bullshit.... haha hopefully eric and your badass self can get everything figured out............................................................................................................................................ I say this b/c i know that you can probably pull an EJ257 faster than a Subaru Master Tech (excluding WJM)
this will be the learned leading the blind I've never done a front mount on a car that was tough just hole cutting and shoving up pipes and then mount IC
Liquid let me give you some advice. When you put the FMIC core on make sure that the subframe/radiator bottom bar thingy isn't rubbing on it. You will see what I am talking about. That bar has a thin line of metal protruding that would rub the core on my Perrin FMIC. The Perrin instructions told me that I would have to cut it and I did. I went through 3 heavy duty cutting wheels......its tough as crap. When I did my buddy Zach's FMIC, we took a 5 lb hammer and beat that lip down....much easier. You don't have to beat the tar out of it and it'll bend downwards nice and easy. Also it'll be much cleaner and won't leave any rough ends that could cut something.
Thanks for the tips guys. Here is my address if anyone wants to stop by. I am going to start around 11:30 - 12:00.
shit, just saw this thread... im working on aproject for my advisor that i need to get done today... if i manage to finish it up, i'll swing by
