I'm not sure how many actually read iwsti.com or if the same post has been linked to nasioc, but it seems there is a customer who is having major problems with Forced Performance. Cliff notes: -A certain STi owner who is also a super-moderator of iwsti.com bought a 20g from FP - one of the blade of the 20g on the turbine breaks off for unknown reason. It was actually a break but more of a "tear", FP points out it is damage done by foreign object pointing out that it could be one of the welds that came "loose" on an aftermarket header, however 20g user was running a stock header exactly like this, however this is from another FP customer - didn't get 20g repaired under warranty but purchases a FP green - green seizes due to inadequate oil pressure - FP points Subaru TSB saying a screen in the oil feed line is the cause and denies all blame because it was probably dirty - customer removes oil feedline and checks screen, 100% clean - customer wants money back, FP agreed then later refused any monetary refurbishment, period. - some iwsti members owns both evos and stis, finds Robert talking smack of all the Subaru owners on evoM Honestly, I do not know who this Robert Young character is, but there are two things: 1st he needs to learn how to do damage control, 2nd he needs to be fired if he is not the owner. EDIT: well I just looked it up and Robert Young owns FP, so it might be all going downhill after this...lol A business can grow as far as the owners and employees take it, this just shows that how incompetent FP and how ignorant FP/Robert is regardless of the situation. here is the full link : click here P.S. deadbolt is the shiznit with lifetime free rebuilds and a transferable warranty. This is just a heads up who are looking to get new turbos.
"A business can grow as far as the owners and employees take it, this just shows that how incompetent FP and how ignorant FP/Robert is regardless of the situation" Breaks all of the principles of the business model and he does not have a monopoly i.e. doing the competition a big favor and free marketing. These boards have consumer power! Definitely a chooch!
and further more, he has the nerve to say this on evoM lol, maybe he thinks he's running a monopoly that needs to "screen" his customers
Deadbolt is the only place I would buy a turbo. Jerry is awesome. They are higher than most but you get a top of the line product.
but doesn't have the balls to go onto iwsti and tell his side of the story, weak I am for one to believe there is always 2 sides to a story but he wouldn't go onto the board to say anything, and seeing how stubborn he is, he might never change. Disappointing but entertaining...
he is right in a way about subaru owners. when I went to the wrx vs evo shootout in englishtown, the subaru crowd got completely destroyed (despite big valley winning heads up). subaru crowd is light years behind the 4g guys in terms of stupidly easy power to make, but a lot of this is due to the ej257 not being around for a long time (and some other engine specific things). I especially enjoy being asked by guys on where they should get their accessport installed. :unamused: but still, why you would say that as a representative of your business is beyond me. being frustrated with customers is the name of the game, and it's how you deal with it that sets you apart from everyone else.
Damn, I had a little bit of a respect for FP's products...but that guy is a prick. Tuning a street car isn't always about "MAKING MOAR POWAR" but more about making it enjoyable for you to drive as the owner. If you wanna keep your stock td04 and run a safe tune go for it. This guy can't decide who among us are "serious" about our cars. I think lots of very serious subaru guys on here are still sporting a stock turbo and making under 300whp. That makes us pussies? Fuck that guy. I'll be damned if I ever buy anyting from FP.
Cheers! PS, I don't think either parties' expectations were really unreasonable, I just think the fp guy's attitude was douchetastic.
Although I have had problems with some quality control issues at DB, I have to say Jerry took care of all of them! No questions asked and sent me 3 hot side housings without even asking for a CC. I dont think I will be buying anything FP now that I have read this thread.
what. a. douche. I am one customer that has just been "test/filter/interviewed" out of ever associating with that company.
Sorry to threadjack, Nasioc is down (at least for me), but does anyone have info or a link on the turbo oil feed line screen TSB? Does it apply to my '02? Easy to fix?
No, no sarcasm. That *IS* FOD. I've seen it many many times. I would imagine that if it were a defect of the blade the break would be cleaner. However, its a rather dirty break as if an object hammered on it.
