What gauges are really needed for someone who is just thinking about having pre-maid fuel maps? If there are any besides boost of course, why have them?
egt, afr, boost, knock correction, intake temp and coolant temp are the ones i look at most of the time... injector duty cycle i will look at once in a while... advance multiplier and fuel correction whenever i reset the ECU
Yeah but u have a data monitor. i want one as well. *mumbles f'ing blue wagon owner, and runs away and cries*
I have EGT, Boost, and A/F. My A/F is not wideband so it is just a dancing like and is pretty much useless.
I like the monitor, the problem is, its difficult for me to see what I need to see when I'm concentrating heavily on driving (track, etc). Thus, I will go for gauges. EGT, Boost, Oil Pressure.
My aero does not have engine temp. And depends how is eng temp measured it may not give any useful info. for temp EGT to me is more important than any other temp. water when its hot its too late. Oil Temp is ok but only tells you general info. If you get only 3 shots this would be my pref. 1. Boost 2. EGT 3. wideband A/F 4. Oil Pres
I thought so too. But here's an example... this morning, my coolant temp (the factory gauge) showed normal operating temp after a mile or so. It took almost TEN miles before the oil temp was up to normal.
Isn't oil pressure more for just a leak on a turbo'ed car that is normally aspirated? Is there really a point to getting a wideband A/F without hardcore tuning? I agree with the EGT. It's a nice backup to the boost. So wouldn't the best be boost, then EGT, then fuel pressure. That way you are backing up the main things that would detonate your engine.
