Getting tires, a few questions

I'm due for a new set of tires, and with a Bridgestone employee discount burning a hole in my pocket, I'm going to be upgrading in the near future.

These are all noobtastic questions for such an old member, so bear with me.

    I have 17x8 wheels.
    235/40R17 right?
    245/40 or 35? R17

Now, does any one have any good pictures of 245 tires on an 8 inch wide rim? I like my tires meaty (stretch can blow me), but I want to see how it looks first.

Lastly, my car is lowered on SPT springs (eibachs). It's only about an inch lower all the way around. Will I run into problems with rubbing on 235 or 245? I've been meaning to roll my fenders for quite some time, so this will make a great excuse if need be.

In case you're wondering, I'm thinking RE050a Pole Position (I just can't justify the tread life of the RE-11 for the type of driving I'll be doing for awhile).

    Thanks!

I am running 17X9 with a 245/40/17 and it works great. I do not think you would need too roll your fenders with 8" wheels.

    Good luck

the tire is a 235/45-17 which is to tall for our cars. I had to roll my fenders, but I'm also on coilovers so...YMMV.

    good tire choice!

With a 1" drop I do not foresee any clearance issues.

Thanks for the advice guys. Follow up question:

On the off-chance that I do rub, is it something that I have to take care of asap, or can I get by for a little while if I take it easy?

BTW, that RS is looking sexy.

    pEd This ain't no Piccadilly!

you could always try test fitting with someone who has those sizes.

The rubbing issue is easy to solve if it's on the fender-side. If it's on the strut-side... not so easy.

245/40/R17 RE050a Pole Positions are installed and oh so beefy. So far no detected rubbing. If rubbing does occur, is it something that I might miss? Or will I hear it for sure?

If you rub you will hear it, it is a loud very uncomfortable sounding noise.
