I recently picked up Siegel's / moose's old Merkur and it's an auto,
    and it smogged... whoo-hoo.

In a little while I'll need to forage for bits for a WC T-5 manual
transmission swap for the car to increase the fun factor, and for
    some replacement seats.

Where are all the good auto yards around here?

    Cool,

I can't wait to see what's on these carcasses.

So how do you pull something on the underside like a drive-shaft if
    they don't allow jacks?

the cars are off the ground and have plenty of clearance to get under the car.

The cars are on jack stands of sorts. They take one steel wheel set horizontially and weld another vertically.

    Thanks,

I think there might be some onscure Ford stuff I want on their east lot
    that's on my shopping list.

Hi pEd.. It's been a while since I actually posted.

In the next few months I'll get back to working on the old turbo-legacy
and the Merkur, but over the past several months I've been focusing
on other non-car things. ...damned priorities...

I just went to the eastern Atlanta pull-apart lot today and there were two
Merkur XR4's on the lot. One had been there only since 04-20-2009 but both
were pretty much gutted. I was able to get a couple of interior trim pieces
though. When I walked the lot I could see that most anything of demand gets
pulled off these cars quickly, and I saw a few teams of people pulling parts
from misc. cars to resale. The freshness date means everything on these
    junkyard cars.

Anyone ever see a turf-war go down on these lots? hehe..

You can go to their website that LiquidForce posted
and search all three Atlanta lots.

I saw an early 90's Legacy and what looked like a mid 90's base
    Impreza on the lot.

Yeah - not much in the way of Subarus. Especially not newer ones.

MOst newer cars of any value go to auction and rarely end up at a pull a part. I did however find a 2002 bugeye there a few years back but some asshat cut the wiring harness to get the engine out. I hate when people destroy something of value because it is convenient for them.
