Good Place for Apple Repair?

I have a 12" G4 Power Book and the metal connector on the end of the power adapter broke off inside of the dc-in board. I have tried to get it out without success. I have been quoted $120 for the labor and $50 for the part. Is there any place that might do this cheaper? Or is there someone that can tell me how hard it is to open up the computer and replace the dc-in board? I've never messed with a laptop, I've only messed around with desktops. Thanks in advance!

stay away from the Alpha-tucky store. they're on my list of people that are not to touch my mac.
this will sound strange, but turn it off, take the battery out and try to shove a cut potatoe, or apple if you prefer, into the hole where it broke off. it should come right out.

Thanks! I'll definately try that because at this point I'm desperate. I don't want to spend $200+ on repairing this.

i assume he tried that. but, you never know...
the ones i've seen broken off are way inside the hole, needle nose don't fit in the tiny hole.

I tried pliers and little screw drivers and everything. The hole is really tiny. Will a potato fit though?

Yeah, and I'm going crazy using my old PC. Always locking up, spyware-infested, crappy crappy system.

I'm hoping to get my Apple up and running by the end of the week.

you need something sticky or something it will sink into, like an apple....
sorry, had to, i love a pun!
to reset your ipod, you hold the center button and the top of the click wheel for about 5 sec. it reboots the ipod.
