two days ago my girlfriend and i went to elijay to visit her parents. we spent the night at a holiday in in blairsville. the next day she asked if i'd like to go to hellen, and my brain said " HWY 129!!!!" so i was like sure. i haven't had the chance to put the wrx through its paces in a while so on went the seat belts. normally i wouldnt drive rough with my melly in the car, but she actually said go for it. this highway has an awsome little mountain segment between blairesville and cleveland. so i decided to showcase my driving up hill. uphill is where i am most comfortable driving in the mountains, that or little ups and downs with sweeping turns. but on the way down she was having so much fun that she wanted to keep it up, so i decided to show here what oversteer was. just throttle lift and braking for lite over steer. it was great fun until a sweeping left became a late apex hard left, and we both got a little lesson in latteral force. ran off into (LUCKY!) a slow traffic pull off. we where both a little bit rattled but that didn't stop me from driving confidently the rest of the way down.
what it did do is make me realize it's suspension time for the rex.

( but on the way down i was really suprised at how responsive these cars are on the limit, i've always been weary of finding the limit of a car with all stock suspension)

Just make sure you stay in your lane on those roads... every time I've been up there on a bike, there have been cars crossing over into the wrong lane when taking corners too fast. Nothing like 4000lbs of steel heading straight towards you when you're on two wheels.

PS: Finding the limits of your car shouldn't be done on public roads...

thanks for the advice, i do always ride in my lane. it was a monday during the day, but you are right. by my self i probably wouldnt have pushed it so hard, but the smiles start flowing and the rest is a lesson in physics. ( you can slap my hand at the 555 party)

Yep, I know what you mean by cars crossing the double yellow line up there, I have seen it happen a few times.....I don't know why these knuckle heads do that....It's cars and bikes both, unfortunately!!.

I remember a similar thing happened to me. I wasn't testing my car, just REALLY tired, couldn't see because of dry contacts, had just driven 3 hours to nashville, and it was pouring. I came into a corner too fast because i didn't knwo the road and didnt' realize the speed was supposed to be so slow... I ended up learning what understeer was into a fence and using my front wheel drive integra to pull me back up on the road out of the 3 foot drop before i stopped...

129 is a blast. I have a friend that has a lakehouse on Lake Burton and we always take 129 on the way up there.
Hwy 197 is an even better one that goes from Clarkesville to Tallulah Falls. This one's a killer.
