Are you running any mechanical mods other than a uppipe / turboback, and are there downloadable maps for your year/make that are close to a cobb stage 2 to start with? Maybe something on openecu.org that's been used sucessfully on a few other imprezas.
I am running a few more mods. It'll be fine; I have a map to start with that's not too far off and will go from there.
hey moose, let's bet who can blow their motor first!! I just need time to lift my car, so I can install wideband and start tuning. if you don't mind, can you list your full mods??
Power mods: Perrin uppipe Helix catted downpipe VF34 ported/polished/blanketed Pinks Perrin top mount Prodrive axleback Since I've had to use a helper spring with Cobb stage 2.5 I expect I will need to bump the WGDC values a bit from where they are now. Hopefully that'll be enough; if not I guess I'll go to a smaller restrictor pill and lower the WGDC down a good bit for starters.
Yeppers... I've spent some time on the enginuity and openecu sites, as well as chatting with some hobby tuners. Learning a lot.
I wanted to mention that someone released a stage 2.5 map for the USDM 2006 STI on osecuroms.org of testing as of two days ago. I hope that more tuners choose to adopt open source tools in the future.
why not get perrin ebcs instead dealing with restrictor pills?? It'll be easier to tune with faster&better boost control.
I might later on; it does require some fairly significant tweaking of the WGDC and turbo dynamics from what I gather so don't want to throw that into the mix until I have learned more.
As far as horsepower numbers? No, never had it to a dyno. Initially I just want it to run like it does now but with WGDC values that allow it to hit target boost properly. Then I'll get a wideband and tweak some.
