Who all is going to this? http://www.roadatlanta.com/event_detail.lasso?-Token.eventfile=ev_grandam.lasso&-Token.id=40 I'm headed up early in the AM with a couple others (Russ, Ped?, etc...) Anyone else going? We should get a caravan if so. Just remember...hide your alcohol VERY well!
I'm going as you mentioned, got my parking also. I will take some pointers from you on how to hide alcohol best. I have never tried to hide alocohol through to RA.
I will be there as well if APR goes with their R8's. I believe all you have to do is put it in your trunk? I have never had them search my vehicle before.
I think Formula Drift brings in a different crowd than Grand Am/LeMans plus different organization running the event.
Interested in this. Will look at the work Calendar and see if I can swing it. I figure you can probably hide a case of cans in GD sedans in the body cavity where the jack usually goes.
never been searched at RA, was questioned about the Patron boxes once. Told GSP they were from the vendor area inside the track, waved right on through. Don't think they can't do a full on search so maybe spare tire well?
Of course being an ASSCAR track&event there is no telling how this year will play out for this race along with Petit. I do know they are planning on dumping some money into upgrades so it can't be all bad.
They have never searched my vehicles when going to Petit. Then again I have always rolled in there with my son so maybe I looked like the responsible type?
I not sure if I'm going or not. If I do, I'll probably have my son with me, so I can sneak in the devil juice if need be. I'll put it under his car seat and no one will ever look there.
Reading the RA site, only the Drift event mentions NO Alcohol. Unless this is new, I've only seen people with beer in their coolers. It's probably a good idea to be cautious though. Maybe leave a 6 pack out in the open, they take that for themselves and then have more hiding somewhere Or, support the local vendors. They need business just like the rest of us.
nice catch! Only downside to the local vendors is they typically have even worse beer that I'll bring in. Like MGD and whatnot... :thumbsdow actually, I found it in their standard policies http://www.roadatlanta.com/policies.lasso#5
So the rule is we cannot bring in alcoholic beverages at all. Oh well, I'll allocate like $50 to drinking only. Don't feel like getting drunk on crappy beer.
Good point. At Road America they sell great local beer at all the stands and each stand is a different Non-Profit Org or pubic service workers. Firemen/Police. But yeah, I ain't drinking MGD all day for sure. Not when I can drink a Sierra Nevada or Dale's from a can.
They were searching pick up trucks with covers. It's all luck if you get picked, but you're really better off hiding it and keeping ice and water/coke in your cooler for the ride in. I hid mine in someone else's trunk after they told me I wasn't allowed to enter. It's a County ordinance..
a county ordinance that you can't drink on private property? edit: it's the track owners that are fucking everyone on this one. they are hiring off duty police to conduct searches and if you don't consent to it (at time of ticket purchase and track entrance) then you don't get to enter the facilities. you can probably thank the petron people for this
wrong, it's the HallCo teetotalers and George Bush's Patriot Act or the fucking drunks who burned down the infield all those years ago
lol some just needs to bring a cooler of ice and stuff the covers behind the fog lights with beers.. air induction cooled beers don't taste very well i would imagine.
i'm not sure, but they do sell beer at the track right?. I'm thinking it's just a law preventing a business from allowing you to bring in your own alcohol...aka they can't tax you on it?
for all the stupid shit that most of us have been a party of at the track, I don't see the point of continuing this debate. After last years shenanigans I'm pretty sure we know what the threshold is before you get cuffed and stuffed regardless of local&state law.
two GSPs and 4 hall county sheriffs couldn't get it done for me. next time they'll probably need to bring the SWAT team
For those who haven't picked up a ticket yet, but are thinking about going: Sweetjack has 50% off today only. http://www.sweetjack.com/local/deal/atlanta/grandam
Why is everything in the ATL on the same damn day? There's an Audi R8 event at AMS, Points 4 for solo, this race and it's 420 Festival. Bastards.
Not saying it's impossible, just saying there's very few cops out past 9-10pm I blame that last ticket on other people because I was obviously doing nothing wrong.
Okay let's make some plans to meet up prior to this. First race starts at 11:15, but there's practices and whatnot before then. click me! I think we should meet up at Publix at Hamilton Mill and load up on snacks/lunch meat, etc...then roll up to Will Call to get our tickets. Thoughts?
can you post a link to this Publix? Rather than having everyone go to google maps and find Hamilton Mill then trace it to find the Publix? What time do we want to meet? Like 9:30AM?
You could of been super nice and done it for him. https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF...72&ei=Q7JuUd2HEMfM2gWk5oGwCg&ved=0CMYBEPwSMAA PS - looks like I am out. Just found out the R8s will not be there as of today and I wanted to go down to Auburn for A-Day....and to get my exhaust put on
you think 1 1/2hrs is enough to deal with shopping, driving, parking, will call, infield entrance, parking... Oh and primp time for the Auto Union?
It depends on how many people bought tickets. Think it's anywhere near the Petit level of crowd? LMK if anyone is leaving from Marietta area or near 120
