Take the stock 05+ Legacy 2.5GT calipers and rotors and swap them on your car. Then do a H6 upgrade or the stock 05+ Legacy 2.5GT rear calipers and rotors and upgrade. If you can source the parts you can do the entire swap for < $600. The front calipers are almost the same as the STi Brembos and some even say are better because they are heavier and handle track use heat better.
I am guessing since my coupe can take my bugeye brakes as an upgrade then this will work on the earlier GC models as well, huh?
Yeah, this was the poor man's upgrade a few years ago but doesnt have the bling as the Brembo's. My brakes aer awesome with Hawk HP+ pads.....If you are thinking of doing this upgrade, DO NOT get the factory pads. They are horrible!
You are right Rick. My buddy Daniel just bought all of his stuff and we will be installing next weekend hopefully.
I have the parts in my hatch to do the H6 rears. I have been looking at front upgrades as well. Do the legacy gt front calipers just bolt on? Are they opposed or sliding calipers?
I've been considering doing this actually. Maybe in the spring when I start getting paid I will do this. Be about time for new rotors then anyway. Let us know how it goes! I'm interested to know how well they work on a WRX.
This is an old thread but it may give you an idea on price. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1490316&highlight=legacy+gt+brakes
I got H6 rear brackets and extra calipers from the donor legacy for $65 about a month ago. Building on that I could get the full legacy brake system for about what your buddy spent. Too tempting...
