What is this nipple used for? Also if i boost 11 lbs or less I get a lot of compressor surge. Anyone have any install tips? It took all of 8 minutes to install.
The type s is notorious for leaking. I had/have one on my old wrx. I think it leaks over 18lbs. Scott said if it's leakig at 18lbs then it's leaking under 18lbs too. Sounds like yours is leaking.
still not really clear on what the heck the small nipple is for but i found one issue with it. The diaphragm was busted...that's why it was leaking boost.
There is a way to set these up where one nipple gets a boost only source and the other nipple gets a vac/boost source. It makes it open faster but I can't remember exactly how you do this. I had it setup that way on my Turbo Civic back in the 90's and it seemed to work pretty good.
iirc to do that, one is fed by a vacuum source from before the TB and one from after it, that way when the TB closes the vacuum from behind the plate helps with the actuation of the BoV. I could be wrong though, it's been a while since I dealt with one.
weekend fun is over. Replaced diaphragm using a diy that i saw on evo forums, seemed to work pretty good but it made my car run like poop. Will buy the official greddy one later. for now returned it to stock...
Words from Scott about Greddy Type S BOV. Scott: "These BOV leak 100% of the time" I had one on my wrx, and we had to put a stock one back on. There was huge leak coming from the BOV.
