I just put in a grounding kit; hopefully it'll help smooth out higher RPMs a bit. So far, it might idle a little nicer than before, but I haven't had a chance to drive it and see if it really did make a difference higher up... I used these instructions: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=674153&page=1&pp=25&highlight=ground+kit+gauge With a couple changes. I used one of the bolts that hold the A/C compressor to the alternator bracket instead of the alt. one (easier to get to, and they're very close), and I used one of the turbo bracket bolts to tie it into the passenger side head (again, easier to get to). Used 10 gauge wiring, eyelets, and heat shrink tubing. Soldered the shorter leads off the main wire. Looks pretty decent! -moose
Well, I guess I'll snap 'em tomorrow since it's raining now. I did take it out for a longer drive, and it SEEMS to run smoother under WOT. Could be my imagination though! Either way, for a mod that cost me five bucks... who cares?
Can I get someone to help me install my grounding kit? I started to do it this afternoon, got everything hooked in and went to turn it on...... voltage gauge read 9V instead of 12 before start, on ignition car went to 0V, no start... :grr: :crying: :eek4: So then the thunder starts, i quickly unwired every connection :ugh: I think it was just a bad connection point. I used 90% of the same ones as moose did above so I don't know what was wrong with it
1)Neg terminal => driver cylinder bank, body earth (same point as voltage gauge), driver strut tower, passenger cylinder bank , alternator 2)passenger cylinder bank => passenger strut tower
oh, the collar that normally goes on the terminal for the voltage gauge was connected around the riser for the grounding kit.
i just bought a grounding kit but it also has a voltage stabilizer....does that make it any harder to do...never put one in...i'm sure it'll come with instructions...j/w
that bolt to the left of the one shown on the nasioc post (the small 8mm one). shouldn't matter because the large one they use is attached to the same block as the small one i used...
shouldnt be any different. directions kinda suck. if you want i can show where i grounded all mine at.
