    Hey guys and girls.
i am planning on gutting my up pipe over x-mas break. i am also considering gutting my oem down pipe. i was wondering if you guys would recomend this? i dont have the funds to buy an aftermarket one right now, and im more concerned with suspension stuff right now anyway. i read a how-to on scooby mods and was just curious what u guys think... and dont say ask for one for x-mas because ive already asked for agx's. would there be any boost spike(creep?) issues with doing this? i def cant afford tuning any time soon...so thats out of the question.

    Any input would be helpful
    -Thanks

yes on the uppipe! do it. just make sure you get as much of the small debris out as possible. I did mine months ago and have had no problems what so ever! :bigthumb: as far as the DP i dont have personal experience with gutting it but have read a few reviews on it and have not heard/read of any boost creep. Id say go ahead and try it on that also and then write a review about it because im interested in the outcome..keep us informed

I would expect that a gutted downpipe won't perform near as well as an aftermarket one; the factory design doesn't allow for smooth wastegate flow and it also has some ugly/tighter bends in the piping. If you're willing to put all the work into it, you will probably see some gains though... but keep in mind that you need to keep your rear O2 sensor happy, so be sure to put something in like an extension/defouler to trick it.

I guess I'll be helping with this over the break :eek:hnoes:

Definately do the UP. I agree with everybody that hacking the DP is probably of negligable difference. I'm sure it will flow better than stock but looks like a big PITA. The only review I read was some guy who ended up cutting the DP cats in half, gutting them, and then rewelding them back together. Be on the lookout for some used downpipes on NASIOC, they're around.
