HOLY SHIT what a mess. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2278180 Cliffs: guy sells built 500whp STi to some 19 y.o punk for a Jeep Srt 8 which turns out had a fake VIN, kid refuses to make things right despite claiming he didn't know the Jeep was stolen.
I think Trancetto posted that last Sunday. But yeah. He got fucked in the ass pretty hard. Edit: Nevermind. Got my story mixed up.
it was posted in the chatbox a few weeks back. last i read, he was lawyering up to go after the kid; it's a felony to possess / sell / redistribute stolen goods. Have neither the time nor inclination to read through the hundreds of posts...anybody read it come across the outcome?
yeah not reading all of that, but this could be a simple dealer error. this happened to my uncle a few years ago. long story short: uncle bought a new GMC truck, dealer was doing year end inventory found that his truck was missing, well some idiot at the dealership did all the paperwork for an identical truck with a different VIN. they didn't realize that, reported it as stolen, and the cops showed up to a basketball game he was coaching as ONStar was setting off the alarm to help the cops find it in the parking lot. they didn't arrest him (showed the cops his paperwork), dealer was apologetic for their mistake and actually took a trade in on their old POS van they were upside down on and made them a killer deal on a new acadia for the wife. cliffs: could be dealer error in processing the paperwork for the wrong vehicle. I.E. he has the paperwork for an identical Jeep that is still on the lot somewhere
well, here's a tl;dr since you didn't even read the first post: read the first post. they scraped off a fake vin plate to find the real vin plate underneath.
There is no dealer error involved in this situation. The kid that traded the Jeep deleted/avoids all methods of contact with him so the guy who owned the STi, Kyle, is stuck with the bullshit that anyone will get with a stolen vehicle. The kid is trying to part out the STi and even talked about trading it with somebody's built Outback. This was before the thread blew up. Now, STIMorris won't even post on the boards. The whole situation stinks and it is not the original owner's fault. After the trade, the Jeep was broken into TWICE. STIMorris and his friend's knew what was up so they went ahead and stole what they could from the Jeep after the trade.
