Yesterday, I was driving around with bobby(gtscoob), and i took a corner fairly fast(a little bit faster in to the corner and i would have started to understear), about half way through the turn i heard a loud snaping sound. (the turn starts to go up hill when i heard the snap). i took it slow back to my house(which was very close) i noticied that the car felt very different when turning into my neiborhood. this morning i looked at all the major suspenion parts front and rear. everything looked fine. so i decided to take it for a drive to see what was wrong with it... it had an incredible amount of front body role(so much i think i was lifting the inside rear tire around some corners). i imeaditly thought endlinks which are stock. well i took them off and neither one of them is broken or bent. i then took the car out again (swaybar on the car but no endlinks)... it felt and handeled exactly the same. when i move one end of the swaybar with my hand the other end moves the same. so i think i must have either cracked the swaybar or snaped it(inside the bushing so i cant see it and the busing is holding it together. im going to pull the swaybar off the car tomorrow and look for any damage....

I was wondering if you guys had any more thoughts as to what this could be or have ideas of anything else that i can check?

Suspenison mods on the car are:
    Prodrive springs
    Tokico D-spec's
    Perrin 22-adj. fsb
    Ingalls camber bolts

the car is an 02' sedan

    Any help apreciated

    thanks

Is the car bouncy in the front over bumps, if so that could be your struts. From what you have described, it sounds like the swaybar though.

+1 for checking the Swaybar mounts. From what you are describing, it definitely sounds like it is something to do with the swaybar, the bar itself, endlinks, mounts, etc...

Damn, now we've both got broken cars. I'll be back in the country tomorrow night and probably back in PTC over the weekend so we can pull it apart and check it out.

I didnt get a chance to look at it today...

but from what i saw yesterday the mounts appear to be fine, but that doesnt mean much.

Bobby, give me a call as soon as you get into town. my jack and jack stands are up in clemson, so i have no way to lift the car. i already tried calling mike but he doesnt have any either.

im leaving town friday morning, so it might have to wait till i get back.

Tom- my struts are not blown, it definetly has something to do with the swaybar.

Thanks for all the help guys, i will keep you updated as i have time to look at it/ take it apart.

I'm not going to be down there until tomorrow night at the earliest. My mom's at the house, call her and let her know you're coming over, the jack and stands are in the separate garage.

BUMP... I still need help, i just took the swaybar off the car... the swaybar seems fine, i did not see any cracks or fractures, as before the endlinks are fine, no bends or cracks. the mounts seem fine, not bent or broken and the nuts, bolts and studs are all fine. all the welds are fine (not cracked or broken). i dont know what else to check??????

could i have put my car out of allignment (i have aftermarket camber bolts) if i knocked one out of position it could have increased the tow out???????

    please help

    thanks

I just reinstalled the bar to see if anything poped out at me.

when screwing in the bolt on the mount(drivers side) i realized that the hole in which it screws into is stripped, i dont know if this could have caused the original problem(maybe it was sliping and the mount was loose under load???) im going out now to get a tap to clean up the treads.

Hopfully this will solve the problem:sx: :eek:hnoes:

It would not move the car that much if the screw was stripped I drove for to months like that the noise could be related to that though. Are the camber bolts for the front or the rear and what are they adjusted to?
