So it turns out a former coworker's husband runs a dent fixing business, and has been doing it for 14 years. Got a good reputation too. Incidentally, I ran into him in the parking lot at work (he was picking something up from somebody) and he offered to check out my car. Counted 41, I kid you not, dents in the hood. Pointed out a few on the roof, one on the right fender, one on the right rear door, and two on the trunk that I hadn't noticed at all. Guy's got a sharp eye for sure. He suggested I take it to the bodyshop down the street and get an estimate, then bring that to my insurance adjuster when I meet with them to ensure I get a fair $ amount from them. After that, he swears he can make it look 100% perfect (with no heat or cold used to shrink/expand the metal), or I won't pay a dime for it. Seems worth a shot. I'll let you all know how it pans out... a few years back, I would've been in a world of misery over this, but for some reason a few dents and dings just don't matter all that much. Will surely get it fixed, but not going to lose sleep over it!
