So I would like to see what everyone considers the GR Models. My .02 ... With a hatch back you have to lift something up to put it in the back...like not putting the tail gate down on a truck... its like a trunk that opens into the car. With a Wagon you just put it inlike having the tail gate down on that truck. Hatch I.E. RSX, Celica, CRX... Wagon I.E. GR STi, WRX Wagon, ... Not to mention it's registered as a Station Wagon and I'm saving a ton on insurance. ok discuss please
The GR is neither a true hatch or a true wagon. A true wagon would have the same rear overhang as the sedan. A true hatch is something like your examples.
i vote wagon cause nothing beats a wagon! Plus its fun to say i drive a wagon and see the look on peoples faces!
since integroid popped in...we can settle this. wagon: NOT a wagon: also, if you look at my wagon compared to your STi...I have a body panel that separates my rear 1/4 window, which gives the impression of another compartment...you do not.
alex your statement contradicts itself? the rear door on the 08 sti opens just like the rear door on any other year wagon, it opens up. so according to your statement it would be a wagon. but its not. it is much shorter than the previous year model wagons. if anything its closer in dimensions to a hatch
Not sure how my statement contradicts itself. Maybe I have completely forgotten it but what hatch back has 4 pass. doors?
yeah and they also call RX8's a 4 door. i don't count suicide doors as REAL doors either. just like i hate it when they call wagons "5 doors" its 4 doors and a hatch damnit!! haha
i think of it as a hatch and prefer insurance to call everything on the road a wagon if it means lower rates
here you're claiming your car is a wagon by having a "tailgate down", there is no tail gate on your car. instead it is just like you said on what you call a hatch back, you have to lift something up to access the rear.......?? i think what you were trying to say is there is no lip on the bottom like in a traditional hatch i understand what you meant to say, that just didnt make sense
No you are not reading it correctly... my analogy is like this... "tail gate up" I.E. RSX "tail gate down" I.E. WRX Wagon I was talking about loading not how the door opens.
I think the tilted rear glass of a hatch makes it a hatch. Wagons have flat glass. Now what about this...? S.U.V. They're smaller than a Legacy. I guess the only thing that makes it an S.U.V. is the roof height???
yeah i got that, it was just confusing the way it was stated. but i still think in theory any car with the rear door that opens up in that manner is a hatch. whereas wagons i think of as those old ass oldsmobiles that had doors that opened to one side or the other.
Roof Height and ground clearance. I forget all the goverment regulations to be able to call it a SUV. Station Wagon. Just because the insurance calls it one does not make it one.
i don't know that there are any any more. thats just how i see them. and i don't see the forester as an suv either. doesnt have the shape of a traditional suv. but then again the shape of most suvs is changing (read:they're getting smaller)
When I bought my WRX I called it a wagon and the salesperson was like "ZOMG ITS A FIVE DOAR." So....5-door.
I have to say I perfer the wagon, just something about the hatch that hasnt caught on to me yet. Im sure in time it will grow on lots of people.
Think about this... What is the Fit and Yaris? Same 5 door design as the 08 GR. Besides Alex, why do you want it to be called a wagon so bad?
Don't lie. It's because I want to have an all wagon photo shoot and I told Alex that he wasn't invited. :keke:
Wagon ftw but I also like the new wrx which some say is actually faster than the sti?hnoes: and yes insurance will say wagon which=cheaper insurance.
Face, I voted wagon because Cohen told me not to. The way I look at it is that if it doesn't have a trunk and front engine, it's a wagon. I think the term "hatch back" or "sport back" was coined because there's a stigma towards driving a wagon.
