I hope everyone has a fun and safe Thanksgiving holiday! I just talked to Mere, who is driving home to Kentucky to visit her parents for Thanksgiving, and in her first 1.5 hours of driving, she has seen over 10 cop cars, and countless speed traps (and people getting tickets). Please be careful and don't speed too much. She also said she saw a few crazy drivers weaving in and out of traffic. So.. the traffic is crazy, and the cops are out there in huge numbers. I am leaving soon to drive to Florida, and will definately be going close to the speed limit this time. Enjoy your holiday break! -- Brian
Have a safe trip man, get ready for traffic! I'll be sending an email out on thanksgiving day wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday. until then, be safe and have fun! cheers,
happy and safe thanksgiving to all... and definitely look out for the crazy drivers. i will be wielding sharp japanese cutlery and playing with open flames... my happy place
Happy Thanksgiving to all y'all and be safe!!. Watch out for the crazy drivers too. There are always plenty of police out on the roads every year for Thanksgiving!!. Have fun with the Evo Brian!!. Mark
Turkey eat Turkey .... we are thinking outside the box this year... No Turkey for me... S T E A K this year heheheh.... m mmmmmmm
why the **** didn't they put cruise control on the evo? Makes the trip much longer, and the evo keeps on tempting me to roll onto the throttle to spool up the turbo.... Drove the s2k down here last year, and even though it was more cramped on the long trip, the cruise control was great. Plus, I got 32mpg with it, compared to 25mpg with the evo. Nevertheless, I made it to Florida. Happy turkey day to all! -- Brian
That is the ONLY thing I don't like about the Evo's. I wish that they had CC. Glad that you made it safely Brian!!. Mark
Has anyone on the forum tried TurkDucken?. It is Turkey,Duck, and Chicken all combined with stuffing in between the birds. I saw it on the Food Channel. It looked mighty good. Mark
Drat... another reason why I won't be able to have an Evo... Without Cruise I'd get tickets by the fistfull. 25mpg is nice though... best I've got so far is around 22-23, but I haven't been on a trip long enough to run a whole tank out. Gald ya'll made it "home" safely and hope everyones holidays and return trips are equally uneventful.
My trip to kentucky: Gas mileage - 23.5 Number of Cop cars - +25, i lost count Number of wrxs - 3! Number of riced-out hondas seen in symrna tn - 4 Everyone if you driving back on sunday or monday please be carefull. I have never seen so many cop cars out in my life. The GSP is out in force in north georgia. I put my cc at 74 mph and watched countless people get pulled over. I hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!
I've been looking at it for a while.. there's one variation where the entire mess gets stuffed into a pig. Might give it a go sometime. This year was pretty traditional (I cooked): 18# turkey that I put steeped apple, onion and cinnamon stick in, as well as some sage and rosemary.. roasted in oven bag, extremely moist and flavorful that way. Red skin mashed potatoes (skin left on) that I added some chopped fried bacon to, as well as fresh ground black pepper, butter and milk. I don't add salt; rather I just salt the water I boil the potatoes in generously... that way the salt becomes part of the potatoes instead of granules mixed in with them. Gravy... made a roux from the bacon grease (saved from above) and half a stick of butter with flour; once it was nice and dark and smelled nutty I started dumping in the turkey juices, ended up with something like two quarts of great gravy. Dressing was just straight from a box with some celery and corn mixed in. Cranberry sauce... canned whole berry mixed with apple sauce and heated up. It's just not worth making from scratch when it turns out this damn well so easily. In-laws brought green bean casserole and dessert... 'Twas good.
75 south was pretty bad too. ridin down to granmas in Milledgeville Ga. I saw 1 suby going the opposite direction 1 phat honda 3 wanna bees and the coup de graw...MY GRANMA HAS A COMPUTER AND HOOKED UP TO THE INTERNET. That is huge. :wtc:
