Does this look like the correct head unit wiring harness for my 05 STi?

It says it's the right one but the picture doesn't look all that right. I'd expect there to be more wires than that... All the other times ive done installs there have been more...

Just so you guys know I used to be a circuitcity car audio installation Guru. I did car audio for a while. I would go to the closest circuit city and by one of there quick plugs that fit the car and the radio you have.. they are made by metra. The same harness works from years 03-06 the wires have not changed I know this out of experience. You do not have to soder or twist to gether any wires with these plugs.:p

Sweet, good info man, that should make things easier :). Thanks!!

Head unit won't be in for another few days :(. I'll go ahead and get the harness tho..

Also now i have some questions about my possibilitys of addons if anyone can help me find out. I've done some looking but can't quite tell if this would work...

^ that is the head unit I ordered.

I'd like to do the direct IPOD control thing so i can control the IPOD through the head unit
    and
I'd like to have blue tooth to do my phone through it. I've seen a "universal" clarion blue tooth module but i'm not 100% sure it'd work and how it hooks up. It looks like it hooks up through the satellite port but I want to use my satellite radio. Maybe an expansion module? if so which one?

    Any ideas/input?

Ok, so go figure they sent me the wrong head unit LOL. They thought they were doing me a favor by sending me the newer model but it's UGLY as HELL and thats why i didn't order the newer one... Oh well... He's gonna check and see if he can get the right one when he gets back in town. Until then i installed the newer one...

So one problem. It seems all my lower FM channels arent coming in at all :( i can't get 95.5 or any of those but i can get some of the higher country stations which are useless to me :p.

The antenna is plugged in the back of the head unit good :p.

Isn't the Subaru antenna connection slightly different? It might fit in the hole, sort of, but you might not have an actual connection. In other words, you might need an adapter.

I didnt have that issue with my 02 but I've also got a real antenna, not the antenna molded into the rear window.

I know Alpine has an adapter so you can use multiple Ai-net addons, I'm sure Clarion probably has something so that you can use a CD changer, Ipod, sat radio, or dvd/gps stuff.

The smart harness from circuit is cool, but you will save some money if you decide to wire it up yourself. I think the harness plus the smart harness comes out to be around $30.

i've heard since it's a glass antenna, you need to hook up the antenna amplifier wire or something to that effect. I'm gonna take a look at mine next time i pop it open, my FM doesn't come in well either.

ive actually heard issues with the "smart harnesses" that circuit city carries. The problem happens on occassion were basicalyl the wire is in the wrong port and connects the wrong things together when plugged in.

Ah i had no idea :). Guess that makes sence! Do you think I could just connect the power antenna wire from the head unit and attach it to the antenna wire?

From my understanding that is exactly what you need to do.:sx:

Damn, i might have to take a break from work and go out to the parking lot to try that!

Wonder if security will look at me funny for taking my head unit out in the parking lot :-\

Before you do it i would double check on NASIOC. They have several write ups on stereo installs.
