Header to buy or not to buy that is the question.

  1. What are your oppions on a header for an 03 wrx waste of money or not? Im thinking about getting one just not sure if its worth it or not.

from what i hear... ur better off spending ur money on other things... plus if u get equal length headers, u will lose the beautiful sound our cars make

  3. ok that 300$ goes to the turbo upgrade or JDM hid fund.

your stocker is totally fine, and as milo said, unless you go with anaftermarket unequal length header, you will end up sounding like a riced up honda.

Scott could fill your ear with reasons not to get one, LOL! He isnt very fond of his experience tuning cars with headers!

  6. Ok well the money will be used for other things now. Thanks for the replys

Actually, equal lengths don't sound nearly as ricy as hondas w/ fart cannons.

Yes, you lose the boxer rumble, but it's just different, and some may like it, some may not.

hmmm.... On second thought, it sounds better under load (the last half of the clip).

My car sounds nothing like a Honda and I would know. ;)

The Boxer rumble isn't efficient anyway.

I gained 40 wtq with a header using an OEM turbo and tuning. :moon:

I personally feel a (Good) aftermarket header is a good mod, esp for 2.5 blocks.

If i could id move up to the APS piece, but am very happy with my DC Sports setup.

^^^ (Good) being the key ingredient. The GOOD ones have proven gains with the BIG turbos on 2.5's. The only proof I've ever seen was with a $1400 Fujitsubo on a BIG turbo.

Trey, was that back-to-back tuned w/header to tuned w/o? I know yours was very torquey, but I don't know how much you can atribute directly to the header. If memory serves you did have some dynos with and without... hmmm, do you have any that are a fairly direct comparison?

Back to back's I've done on cheap headers consistently LOST power AND tq.

My 360 wlb-ft stock turbo STi has a stock header. My 436 wlb-ft 20G STi has a stock header.

*MAYBE* with EVERYTHING else already done, full exhaust, turbo, tune, etc a header is worth it. But the money is likely better spent elswhere first.

I couldnt agree more, your money is better spent elsewhere on your car.
