I have a stock 03 Impreza rs and am thinking about putting on a Borla catback and Borla header. If I do this and leave everything else stock will it cause me to fail emissions testing here in GA? Thanks!

P.S- Don't just tell me to but a WRX. I'd LOVE to but don't have the money!

If it will make you catless, then yes, depending on where you go for emissions and if they do a visual check for a catalytic converter.

not sure what power gains those will give you but I am guessing not a whole lot to make it worth the mod. Best thing you can do is suspension, brakes, tires for the NA cars.

I am not changing anything but installing Borla headers and a Borla catback exhaust. The car will still have the stock catalytic converter. Dealership and allpro both said it 'shouldn't" make it fail haha. I ordered the parts so I hope I'm good. I am doing the exhaust because my oem exhaust has a few leaks which I have repaired several times and want some nice noise. the headers are for sound. I know I wont receive huge gains in power or anything I just need a new exhaust and want some nice sound so this will be my best route. A stock catback will cost me the same or more so I figured I would get some nice sound out of it.

they're both correct. Installing those items shouldn't cause the car to fail emissions. You'll be fine if you have both of those installed.

If you don't have the money to buy a wrx do you really have the money to modify your car?

You won't even notice the performance gain from the mods.

My advice is be patient and save up for a different car if you really want something with more power.

A simple opensource reflash of your ecu can turn off any cels if you decide to go with the headers and exhaust. Probably get you an extra 5 hp too.

I am not doing these mods for power. My current oem exhaust is 10 yrs old and I lived in NY for a few years with it. I have several small leaks and it is not worth me continuing to have shops or the dealership patch it up. I'm losing gas mileage and sounds like crap, not to mention its not good for the car. That is why I'm replacing the catback exhaust. As for the headers, I'm installing those to get a nice Subaru tone out of my car. My car is paid off and has 91k on it. No rust and I have taken great care of it so if I choose to add a few more mods or mess with it ill be on my way. My friend put in a intake, catback and headers on his 99 rs and saw quite a nice gain in torque and it made the car noticeably quicker. That being said I really appreciate everyone's input and advice. I wish I could afford a $300 + a month car payment right now because I would have an 11 or 12 WRX in my garage!
