Would anybody be interested in a headlight painting day? I want to paint mine but am kinda squeemish about the whole baking ordeal. If anyone else wants to try there hand at painting a couple pairs of headlights there's safety in numbers.
No leaks here, just buy some black silicone and apply some all the way around after baking the 2nd time. The time taking them apart and putting them back together is minimal. The largest chuck comes from applying multiple coats of paint and letting them dry in between.
I just need to convince my parents that it really isnt too bad. They are very worried about everything being reverseable. I guess I could just buy new headlights if I trade the car in in a couple years.
Just fyi, JDM sti headlamps are 1200-1500$ Any set selling for <$1000 on ebay will most likely be fake. there is a difference in coloring anyways... but yeah, i definately want to clear out my lights, I cant wait, it should do so much for the front end of things
Painting Headlights I Want to paint my headlights as well. My roommate had no problems with his on his toyota matrix, then again it a Matrix. But does anyone have the right guide for baking, like temp, and time and all that good stuff. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Thanks
I dont know if I'll be able to. My dad was very strict about "no more mods" after I installed my gauges this weekend. I dont think he knows about the stage 4 that came with the car though.
y not just do it and then say 'u didn't notice it for so long?!?!?!?!' works on my dad... but then again, he sees my car once a year
haha, well as long as my mom likes it I could care less about what my dad thinks. He didnt even want me to debadge it. I think they're onto the mods because they were complaining about my nasty exhaust yesterday ("smells like gasoline" "I doubt your car would pass emissions" "What happened to your CEL" . . .) The whole deal with my mom is just that if I get a speeding ticket or anything the car is hers and I get the minivan. My dad is funny, he said originally that he didnt want me to get a "hot" car when we were car shopping, yet my mom talked him into the WRX wagon "because it was cute and functional". If I could get a pair of used headlights from someone and paint those I'd be alright. But as far as suspension goes if he doesnt see it then he wont know about it.
Man, minivans are awesome. Nothing like front wheel burnouts on a Sunday morning with like 8 people in the back :bigthumb:
Well GTscoop who pays for the car? I had the same problem with my dad. So i just toke over the payments. Now i can do whatever I feel like it. Just tell your dad that. Everyone else is doing it!! lol
yeah, thats what I'm going to try next semester if I get a co-op job. I really want to own it but am not making enough money to afford car payments right now. Something also tells me that he wouldnt go along with my buying the car from him or taking over payments. The plan was to have this car as a college car and then trade it in when I graduate and get something nicer. I doubt we'll get much trade in on a very modified car and would rather just own it outright and be able to do stuff to it (like a manual transmission swap . . .).
Wow, i didn't know you were rockin' an auto. Nice! Not many people with auto do mods to there cars. I wish I had an auto sometimes. Like in traffic. I think everyone can agree with me on that one.
yeah it's an auto with a Protorque 4100 rev stall torque converter. It's fun but the programming for the 4EAT sucks (4th gear @ 30mph?????). And with as much power as I've got the shifting isnt very smooth at all. My car is good for drag racing but I've never been much for straightline speed.
no leaks here after taking out the amber in mine, tho i opted to not paint the inside. be sure to not hold back whilst sealing them back, use plenty of the epoxy Craig
TheRex is selling his WRX with painted headlights, maybe if you get a hold of him he would want stockers + a lil cash to bring his back to stock more? Craig
