So I was changing my oil before leaving for FL tomorrow and noticed that the right front CV axle boot by the transmission was split. I have a 10 hour drive to south FL. Is it driveable or do I take the wifes car?
Where is the best place to take for repair? My wife can drop it off on Saturday for replacement. Thanks guys.
Do it yourself...it will save you a ton of money. You can get a reman axle for like $70 and it will take about an hour to replace it.
Man that sucks! I agree take the wifes car! But when u do replace do he whole axle! They are 69 bucks at advance and wil save u tons of headache! Gl!
What about reman Subaru axle? Are they better then aftermarket? I want the right fix. Are you over at SOK? When I am driving tomorrow can I call and ask to speak to you? Don't know your name though.
yes, reman subaru axles are perfectly fine. my name is steven king. i still work at SOK, just ask for me and ill be glad to ask any questions that you have.
is it the axle (green arm) or the cv axle(skinny arm)? Mine is ripped and its not a big problem as advised by my "tech." It clicks every now and then but I was told just to replace my boot with my next alignment. if its the axle then yea, get the boot replaced before the trip.
. If it is clicking you are too late and need to replace it with a reamn or new axle assembly. You need to find a new tech if he gave you that advice.
The green 1. The other i think is steering rack. Mine is torn too so thats next on my list!! I guess i got wobble to look forward to!!! lol
 funny cuz its the same tech that psoted in this thread yea the steering rack is the little one Im talking about, definitely get the Axle fixed, he can do that for you too. He replaced my axle boot about a year ago in about 15 min. Kingwrex FTW
Get it taken care of then take the Saabaru to the dyno day! http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24095
