I just ordered these bad boys! They should be here on monday. Im really gonna have some fun with these!!! Has anyone else got these??? Are they pretty easy to install?? Any hints or tips would be awesome!
They are 113 or 118dB i think, H/O and ill go look it up for ya. I heard them today. My buddy got them on his hatchback and they are freaking awesome. So i had to get them! They are going on the WRX
I just looked and they are 118dB! I wish i knew what the stock one is so i could compare. I think they plug right in where the factory horn is but i believe the WRX only has one horn so ill prolly have to splice another wire in for the second horn.
Actually i ordered them through a 4x4 shop near my house called Hicks Total Performance. Horns + Shipping + Tax = $64 I havent seen them anywhere near that cheap anywhere online (most places are like 69.99 + 10.00 shipping) If anyone else wants to get some of these i can order them and pick them up for you at Hicks up here in North Carolina. I believe that the 4 Wheel Parts store in Norcross might sell them too! Youll have to call and find out for sure. Their shop is off of Buford Highway. Also i found an informative site on how to install them... http://homepage.mac.com/brianslick/supertones.html
HAHA! Thats awesome!! Ive been sitting here laughing while thinking about how much fun im gonna have when i get these babies in!!!
i was actually thinking about getting some, just never got around to it, plus i need new brake pads, those come first.
I had these in parallel with my old wrx horns... 4 horns of goodness. I've get to get around to install them in my LGT, but I will someday. THEY ARE LOUD.
thats sick, i wanna take off the old horns and just use the hella's. would you recommend using the relay when installing them?? I heard it is not necessary.
I love my Hella supertones 118db horns. They are great for scaring suv drivers on 285 when they start to drift into your lane. xnoodlesx has them in his sti, and he just used the stock wiring and swapped them for the 2 stock horns. -- Brian
i got my supertones and installed them!!! The install was quite easy as basically all of the wires were already there. When you honk them in a wooded area the echo bounces off of everything! I decided to install them without the relay just because i heard it wasnt necessary. Everything seems to be working fine. I hooked up all of the connections with dielectric grease which will hopefully prevent any corrosion. Anyway, I love them, i cant freaking wait for someone to cut me off!!
By the way, ill try to get you guys some pics and possibly a sound clip this weekend. (however it may be kinda low quality, every other sound clip ive heard online doesnt give the horns justice)
Finally got pics!! This is how they look in the grill, pretty sick if you ask me!! These have been so much fun!!
Yeah, i get asked about them every once in a while by people when they see them looming in the grill. You should see how people react when you honk at them!!
I installed Hella Supertones in my wife's car for her christmas present. I painted them pink to match her wheels. No drilling, easy install. Here are a few pics: They are quite loud. I left the stock horns in there still, but didn't want to run too much current through the stock wiring. Higher res. pics: http://mere.darg.net/sti-supertones -- Brian
