I just thought id drop by since I work in Atlanta and own a WRX finally :hs: Its a Red 04 Wagon. Ive got a Tyhpoon SRI on the way and possibly a catback. Out of curiosity what do these usually run in the 1/4 with a good drive and those mods? Itll be my first time on the track with an AWD car. My last car only ran 14 flat at 101
You should run in the 13's depending on your driving skills. Also do not dump the clutch on an all wheel drive car, if you do you could bust the tranny. You have to learn how to launch with it and i suggest getting with someone who knows to teach ya. By the way welcome and good luck with your wrx!
Welcome aboard! In all honesty you probably wont gain much if anything from the SRI. Your best bet would be to invest in a catless uppipe (UP) and a catless or highflow cat downpipe (DP). The catback will definately be more pleasing to the ears than your stock exhaust and you will notice a bit more power with it vs the SRI. What exhaust did you get?
Wow you guys responded quick LOL It wasnt a WRX that I ran that time on though. I havent ordered an exhaust yet, but I was considered buying a turbo muffler and getting a custom setup?
that should be cool Getting a full TBE (Turbo back exhaust) will definently give you a better gain than an SRI at this time try that out first like what weapon wrx said you'll enjoy it.
Nothing wrong with that, but with the huge aftermarket for our cars, you can usually find high quality used cat backs for less than a custom exhaust would run you. I agree with Kris on the SRI, not a bang for the buck mod on the WRX...
i haven't seen anyone run close to 14 flat in a 2.0 liter WRX with similar mods near our area... i'd expect mid to high 14's with good driving at the commerce drag strip welcome to WRXatlanta
Good deal. Ill look into all my options. Thanks again. When is the next get together? I didnt really notice much except for the SOG scavenger hunt.
Every thursday night (other than the first thursday of the month) a few of us try to meet up at the Northpoint Mall meet (behind Fudruckers & in front of Circuit City. If we have time we'll grab something to eat afterwards. We just had our huge meet, an install gtg this past saturday. You should try to make it out to Northpoint one thursday night, you'll get a chance to meet some of the guys. Craig
Awesome, Ive been to the NP meets before, just not in the new car. Im not sure if any of you all remember me or remember my other car. Black cougar with nitrous? Ive gone to most of the GADSM showdowns. Oh I forgot to mention. I post on IA a lot. my website is www.nemesisdigital.net. I cover Formula D events nation wide and will have my photos in DSport Magazine next month
Glad it worked out for you George. I have an upipe at the house as well as a few other bolt ons that came off Jeremys WRX Ill dig around and see what I can find, we will try and get you started off on the right foot. Matt
you usually post really sweet pics on there right....think I've seen them.... welcome to the site!!!..congrads on the wrx....nice web site as well
No problem George, Ill check when I get home, I think I have and upipe and a intake, give me a call this evening if you want. Matt
Im thinkig about transfering my S-AFCII to the WRX, is this an okay solution to some tuning? I wont have too many crazy mods in the future, just the usually basic bolt ons.
ive heard those work well on the EVOs but i dont think they work well on a WRX... i don't think i know of anyone who has one of those on their car
We'll from my understainding I installed a few of those S-AFC's especially one in my buddies old 480 horsepower STI, The only time these do you any good is when you have an upgraded Turbo with a front mount set up, then it works great with a good tune, But me personally I wouldn't use it on a mostly stock WRX until you go that route. just my 2 cents.
We'll Scott was the one who told us to use it for my Buddie's set up in his last car, he said only if you go front mount and your boosting above 25psi, The S-AFC is great for that since it has a learning curve along with the stock ECU after a tune of course.
