k so as soon as my car gets good and hot then my performance goes to complete shit and wont go over 80 or 100. i did notice that after it gets hot there is exhaust leak somewhere around the turbo but it was dark and i couldnt tell from where.. but heres the catch i still hit full boost i shouldn't have any boost leaks because i replaced the boost lines(and yes i put the pill back in the line).

so im thinking gaskets? maybe i have 159XXX miles ...and just replaced my turbo with one that has around 15000 miles

there is a full loss of power in almost every gear when its hot
is it going into lean mode?as suggested by fellow member.if so how do i check

Any noise accompanying this? Does it sound like a leak or something? Did you use new OEM gaskets when you replaced the turbo? Any codes?

maybe that's hint that you should be hitting 100 on the stinking public road. old people don't know what 100 mph looks like. i hope you're using a track for these "tests".

    Just to rant here...
I love this forum but it cracks me up to see all these guys that are all about performance for there car have a hissy fit every time someone mentions going over the speed limit.
I understand the site does not endorse reckless driving but to make snide remarks every time someone mentions going 57 mph is getting old quick.
    /end rant

umm 100+ mph is f-ing reckless!! don't do it, for the sake that one other idiot is just in front of you talking on the phone and scratching their ass looking for a turn that's on the right when they are in the left lane.
you know what, fine go kill someone else and i'll say nothing about it. no problem. i promise no more comments from me about driving like a high schooler.

So you are saying going at least 30 miles per hour over the speed limit (because there aren't any speed limits over 70mph in GA to my knowledge) is safe? Not to mention how busy and crowded the Atlanta area is...

I am not talking about driving 5-10mph over the limit, I am talking about excessive speeding and reckless driving...

I'd love to help, but I don't really know much about the technical stuff...yet. That's why I...was...reading this thread, hoping to gain a little insight.

Also, heat shouldn't cause that. My car pulls strong and hard in this weather.

threads like this aren't really places to gain technical knowledge. sorry :hs:

I have to disagree with that. WRX Atlanta has not only allowed me to cultivate a vast amount of knowledge and information about my car, I have been able to research technical information, modifications, purchase parts from members, meet members who helped me work on my car and have had phenomenal professional recommendations for tech's, shops and people I trust with my property(the WRX). I have to say this is a great place for technical information and really good bunch of peopel!:bigthumb:

I think he meant this thread in particular and we all see what sparked within. The forum as a whole is a great community.

my mods are cai, perrin inlet, new stock td04, and a hp racing catback that it for the engine mods i did have a bov but i took it off and put on the stock valve

Possible you got a bad tank of gas?

my point is that "HELP MY CAR IS BROKEN!!!one" threads are really fucking hard to diagnose over the internet. except with the one guy that took pictures of his vacuum lines, it's really just a stab in the dark. the extent of what you might learn is that "oh that guy's car on the internet may have a boost leak, a bad tank of gas, a broken vacuum line, or a faulty MAF sensor". there's not much to be gained there IMO.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm a crotchety asshole and don't listen to me. or maybe do some critical thinking before slamming the POST NEW THREAD button and provide us with some more info to make informed decisions and steer the person so they can learn something and follow some basic troubleshooting for subarus so they aren't spinning rod bearings at 150mph on I-85.

    troof!

and guys, it is hard to diagnose a problem like this with no background information. How long/how many miles has it done this, any recent mods, stuff like that...

well the last new mod was a few weeks ago i added a new td04 and the car worked fine until this recent event.

i doubt its gas because that was the first thing i checked added new gas from somewhere else plus some octane booster

regardless of how "good" the old exhaust gaskets looked, you should have replaced them. once they are squished down they won't reform to the new turbo's shape. therefore they won't seal properly.

i have also heard that useing both the and and old is good ...... what are opinions on this?

I think that just the new one is the best route. While it is possible that it could help....I know it does if you use multiple on the bov...on exhaust, the gaskets go through a lot more and if you have an old one that is degraded, it's not going to help it seal.

i have no idea why anyone would recommend you to use the old ones. wtf?

depends on how old they are, but is usually isnt a problem. I generally replace the uppipe gaskets but anything post turbo who gives a shit
