im having trouble figuring this out. Stivers, Gran Turismo are both unsure, so going to Six Star next week. 2008 wrx about a month ago i replaced wheels. old wheels +55, 17x7. new are +50, 17x7.5. about 2 weeks later i notice a vibration, especially when turning and braking at same time. when braking during turn the steering wheel would jerk quite a bit. When braking in straight line, slight pull to right. checked alignement - told me no need for one, waste of $ Stivers found a bent wheel and moved it to the back until i get it fixed. this made a big difference. no steering wheel jog, but some vibration is still there. especially at about 70-75 mph. today Gran Turismo told me that wouldn't be the issue because the wheel is barely bent. They told me to take it to Six Star, who thinks it may be an axle. has anyone had a similiar problem? Six Star told me subies have axle problems, but i dunno. any input is appreciated. thanks.
I would like to stick my nose in this issue as well to read responses... 2008 as well, at 87k....for the last 10k-12k miles I have noticed a vibration that comes and goes randomly from 70-80mph. Not only does the steering wheel shake, but the whole car shakes...feels like I'm sitting in a vibrating massage chair. And overall, the steering feels a little loose and wobbly. I havent gotten anyone to check it out yet tho. Will get Brandon and Wes to take a look my next trip there.
not on mine, Stivers told me they were in good shape a few weeks ago. i havent had my car long, no mods at all from what i can tell.
check the tranny mount. I had very similar issues years ago and it wasn't until I pulled the tranny for some other reason that I found the problem. was torn completely on one side so turning a particular way was worse than the other. just a thought
