Saturday I plan on installing my new Downpipe. My only problems are a) I have no tools and b) I don't know what I'm doing. Is anybody free Saturday after 4:00 PM to help me out in this install? It's the Stromung DP that does not include the midpipe. Thanks in advance, let me know if you can help. Craig
I may be able to help. If its a decent time of day. I am going to be doing a lot of car work next wed-thur-fri and could do it for you or help then for sure. -edit saw it was after 4pm, unfortunately I work. But offer still stands for wed-fri- Jason
call me on Saturday morning, we can possible use my garage and tools. 404-694-6997 I have a party to attend that night but if we can knock your install out in an hour we'd be good to go. I'm in alpharetta, near north point
I can help as well I have nothing to do that day, so let me know if you want me to bring my tools as well...PM if you need anything else..
i haven't done this before but i might be able to come lend a hand if u start early... i'm gonna be busy later on at night
Gotsol if we could use your garage that would be great. I have to do something around 12:30, but I'm picking it up at like 9 AM. If we could meet at your house at 930, hopefully we could be done by 11 latest? If not I can meet you around 330 and we could get it finished by 5? If anyone else can lend a hand that would be great, I have no idea what i'm doing :crying: . I'm going to pick up the gaskets tomorrow. Thanks, Craig
Okay it looks like we are going to get this done Saturday at Patrick (gotsol's) place starting from around 3:00 to 3:30. If anybody could lend a hand that would be great. Patrick, would you be able to post your address? Thanks yall, Craig
I'd rather not post my address on-line, I was wigged out putting my number up there. PM me if you want to know my address.
i might be able to make it and give u guys a hand.... havent really worked much on cars but i could offer some extra hands... i got a couple things to take care of but after thats done, i'll try to swing by
Looks like you've already got this covered, so I'll just say have fun guys, & if y'all need an extra hand or have any problems, feel free to drop me a line. -Laters! -Chris!
it went well, I'm loving the new pipe! now I just need to find the time to do the CEL fix (the mechanical one, although I'm not sure how to do that). Craig
There's a cel fix for the DP? I'm guessing that your new DP didn't have the bung for the sensor then? I thought that one was pretty standard... I know my Perin UP didn't have the bung, & I needed to solder in a resistor across the wires, but I'd call that an electrical fix, not a mechanical one... Anyway, I've never heard of a mechanical fix for the DP sensor. What's involved??? -Laters! -Chris!
apparantly you put almost like a spacer into where the o2 sensor goes... MY DP only eliminates 1 cat, so i still have the midpipe cat, and if you put a spacer in there to take the sensor out of the main flow, then it reads okay and won't throw a CEL. Craig
Hey Patrick, thanks for the link. Does anybody have a good solid drill that would be able to help me if I buy the part. We have zero tools at my house. I'm going to try and do this on Sunday. Craig
I have a pretty powerful drill, used it to tap for the EGT, should work easily in this case. Let me know. Jason
Oh, okay, I had to read this 3 times to get the jist. You're saying that bc you removed one of the Cats, now your sensor is reading too high, so it needs to be backed out a little bit so that it sees less air flow. Okay, that makes sense. FWIW, I have a cheap drill press, which you're welcome to use for as long as you're willing to stand there & watch the bit spin. =) -Laters! -Chris!
The CEL will come and go as it pleases if it's like mine was before I got it blocked. Normally comes on when you have a car person in the car to embarass you then will go away until that person climbs in again.
I have an uppipe and downpipe, factory third cat, and I put the stock EGT and O2 Sensors in and have driven about 1000 miles and no CEL, just got my midpipe today and will be running catless by teh end of the week. Wonder if that will trigger the CEL.
The mechanical CEL fix works great. It just spaces the O2 back enough that it doesn't throw the CEL. The nice thing is you can still take it out to use the bung for tuning... You can get them at Pep Boys or Autozone, or anywhere. The linked thread should even have the part numbers. If you need them drop me a line. I've just got to tell everybody on here that I think it's really cool how helpful and positive you are. How long did it take you to get the pipe on? SS
with letting it cool and a trip to the hardware store, about 2 hours. I think that includes the time for me to get up on my roof and clean my gutter
Hey craig if you still need a mechanical CEL fix I've got an extra one up here at my apartment (got it because my perrin CEL fix didnt seem like it was working at first)
awesome thanks guys! I think I'll give Porter a call, thanks bobby but I won't be up by tech anytime soon, but I appreciate the offer. Yeah this club is great, everybody is willing to help everybody out, and yes we even managed to fix his gutters (and his fear of heights ). Craig
Come over this Saturday, I've got to install the rear laterial links and then get back on the roof to fix a leak. This time I will be MUCH higher up
HAHAHAHAHA *evil laugh*... our plan is working... everyone believes we are good guys... little do they know that we are really psycho martians and we're here to rule.... today, the atlanta subaru community... tomorrow... THE WORLD... HAHAHAHAHA
Craig you'll join the conspiracy crew once you get to Tech. You see Milo and Amol are making all of these electrical bombs using the vast knowledge they've acquired here. I'm making a sweet plane to drop said bombs and Alex is helping. But I've said too much .. .
im not sure what alex's major is... but for now he could put wrxatlanta decals on the bombs :bigthumb:
