The wife and I have been mountain biking a fair bit and enjoy our GT Aggressor hard-tails, but lately she's gotten into the road biking. I thought I could hang with her on her new Trek road bike (don't know specs but it's mostly blue with red and white and it's FAST), and me on the the MB, but not even close... So, I'm sure everybody knows that I'm cheap, so I don't want to spend a fortune on it, and we're doing it for exercise not competition, so it doesn't need to be a "winner." I'm not even sure what to look for in a road bike. Ashley's bike has the shifter/brake combo thing and the standard (spl?) clip-ins... Any suggestions on where to look, what to look for? Siegel
www.boneshakerbicycles.com 770-222-BONE(2663) Ask for Randy tell him I told you to call and he will take care of you. Matt who is sitting at home waiting on the traffic to die down.
Scott, we can talk Monday during my tune if you want. I can see if I can find you a used bike from someone on the team.
I'm definitely thinking used. Does boneshaker or anywhere else do used? I certainly wouldn't mind buying from a shop that could set it up for me. Siegel
I could possibly help size you up and narrow down some choices for you. I have been working at bicycle shops for 15 years, and even ran a shop for several years in Tallahassee. I'm Clay's friend that works at Atlanta Cycling. Although I graduated school nearly a year ago and am now a practicing Chiropractor, I still work at Atlanta Cycling once or twice a week. If you would like to come in for a free sizing come to Atlanta cycling in Vinings (www.atlantacycling.com)on Thursday and I would be happy to give you some fitting advise, and help you with any future issues. Lord knows I'll be bugging you enough as soon as I get a Subaru about upgrade advise. If you have any specific questions email me at Dr.Keirnan@gmail.com or send me a pm. Off the top of my head I would say look for a used trek 1500 or 1600 from 2006-2007. Unlike mountain bikes, road bikes are a little trickier to size and fit, so that is why it is important to figure out what size frame you need before you really start your search. I don't get commission so it won't hurt my feelings if I help you find a used bike somewhere else (just don't tell my boss ). I just love riding, and sharing that passion with others.
No, It is about 1 mile south of Chipotle on Cobb Parkway. (Had to use something YOU would know ) After you pick up our lunch, take a left out of the parking lot and it is just after Cumberland Blvd. on the left. It sneaks up on you so get ready to turn before the paces mill light.
Also troll around on craigslist and http://www.bikesbl.org/ Once you know your size you maybe able to find a nice ride for a good price.
I have a couple bike frames and forks fits inseam 29-31" Medium , 54, 55 cm Get your inseam and height or have DR help fit you i trade for parts as well Looking for an LM1 or quick spool turbo
I have a canondale sitting in the shed. I think it just needs a wheel or tire(I have the wheel, its just not on the bike). It was my moms so I guess its classified as a girl bike? It burgundy and light as hell I know that. I used to race downhill on it back in my childhood streetracing days.
DUDE...I told you months ago to contact Dr. Chris when we talked road bikes! Get on it!!! Until then...Ashley is faster than you on her bike...and we'll all laugh at you.
This looks just like my wife's bike: http://cgi.ebay.com/TREK-1000-ALPHA...ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting whatcha'll think? I have some seriously stumpy legs... like a 29 inseam is a little long... I think this would be about the right size. I do plan on going to see Dr Chris, but what do y'all think of a bike like this? Siegel
Most Treks look like that, actually. She does probably have a 1000 though. That's the least expensive road bike Trek makes so it'll be easy to track down one for you within your cheap-skate price range. Let me see do a little digging. You're probably a 52cm...
strictly opinion only you wont enjoy that bike OPINION: its very harsh and for an alum is also heavy. If you dont enjoy or feel comfy on the bike then you wont ride it ive seen many people buy 2-3 cheaper bike sna dont like riding it and then finally end up with a nice bike and love riding. But after spending $$$$$$ for bikes that will get garage sold
we'd hate that bike, but not knowing any better it's fine for a first timer. Plus then they'd match and that'll be so cute...
don't forget, we're doing this just to get in shape, so a heavier bike doesn't bother me. I rode Ashley's and compared with riding a MB on the Silver Comet her Trek is a freaking rocket-ship. Siegel
Good luck Siegel! Can't go wrong with a Trek. Give me a buzz sometime when you're on the Comet...I'm out there all the time.
