Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by droobydoobydoo, Jul 28, 2012.

  1. Ok. I got the old one out but am not having luck getting the trans to slide back in.I jacked a up the engine and have a trans jack but have never had this much trouble putting in a clutch.( I could do one in my Mustang in about 2 hours).I am at around 6 hours for my car with 3 failed attempts to reinstall trans. The first time I tried to do it with the the cat still installed.Removed it and tried again. No luck..Any hints/tips.Thanks...

you turning the crank to align the splines? Maybe jack on engine to get the pitch right (back down a hair). the bellhousings wont just butt right up you will have a gap to pull in with the bolts.

I can just get it to where the bolts/nuts want to start threading but only a turn or 2 of threads and am worried about stripping them out.I have done dozens of clutchs ,usu ford rear wheel drive cars and lots of different toyotas.Never ran up against one that is beating me like this one.
