Hi, I have not been having much luck trying to locate some information on my XT (have not had much luck with my normal mechanic lately and looking to do some of the work on my own). Where would be the best place to get some information for working on my XT? I currently have several problems with it, including leaking power steering fluid and loss of power. Also, I am having troubles trying to find a decent source of parts (have not tried the dealer yet, know prices are higher there). I found this on Google and several others, but the others seem to be more "closed" for what I am looking for. Is there someone here that can help point me in the right direction? Thanks, Keven
I think he's talking about the older XT-6 Yeah, I'd get in touch with WJM or maybe JWX, they're the only guys I know that have really fooled around much with the older subarus.
Welcome to the community We do have several Subaru techs on the forum, hopefully someone will chime in soon for you.
DO NOT GO TO USMB. A bunch if immature idiots. Been there done that. There's a reason JWX and I dont post there anymore. GTscoob: As you can see by the pic, thats NOT an XT6. The hood scoop and 'TURBO' decals give that away. Not to mention its 4x140mm and has the Premier alloys on it, 13x6. My FAVORITE 4x140mm wheel. N/A XT and XT6 have no scoop. XT6 has 'XT6' decals on it. XT6 also comes with 5x100 wheels. It was the only Gen3 (A10/A11/C10) with 5x100. A mix of Gen 1 Legacy parts and A10/A11 parts. Power steering pump leaks are rather normal...pull the pump and reseal it. Loss of power? is it N/A, Turbo or a rare XT6?
they do....he was saying that the pic you posted is not of the XT6 variety.....the XT6 was a (I think) 3.0 H6, if not a 3.3 like the SVX (it's little sister). there were 3 trim lines in the XT 1. plain ol' XT 2. XT Turbo which was the same EA82 found in many an RX. 3. XT6 which was a 6 cylinder.
Nope. MANY trim levels... XT: DL GL (in N/A and turbo) GL-10 (N/A and turbo) Each as 4WD, or 2WD, MT or AT then FT4WD MT or AT XT6: DL/GL/GL-10 trim levels, but not actually called DL/GL/GL-10 MT or AT in 2WD or FT4WD.
No. An XT and XT are similar and different. Again, different trim levels. an XT6 MAIN difference is the fact that it comes with the ER27. The worlds first water cooled flat-6 engine. That and when the XT6 came out in 1988, all XT's got a different front end. To most people its the same. But to the trained expert, its easy to see. The one that GTscoob posted is an 88+. Also the XT6 got 5x100 and a bunch of other doo-dads that the non-XT6 didnt get.
