I bought a Husky generator 2 years ago HU5000. I believe there is also a Homelite version of the same generator. I needed one for the house and this one is powered by a Subaru engine so I had to get it.

I'm sick of running extension cords everywhere. I am looking at 2 different approaches to have easy switch over.

    1. Have another 240v socket installed outside. Cut power from the utility and plug the generator in and turn on the circuits we need.

    2. Generlink I found this product that appears to make this as easy as possible. Basically you have a ring that is installed at the meter and cuts the utility connection and provides a 240v connection for the generator. It prevents backfeed by cutting the connection to the utility side and allows you to use your breaker box to dictate what gets powered.

Anybody have any experience they can share? Thoughts or opinions?
