Due to certain restrictions i didnt think i can use the aftermarket ones although i know it works fine and many have them on their cars. REstrictions = Real estate in stock engine bay is very limited. I wanted dual cans for identical to stock flow. located away from heat source. Parts list: Mini Air filter / water filter for compressors (2x) - $23 Custom bracket (cut a L cabinet bracket) - $3 1/2 ID silicone tubing (length pending on placement) Fittings (straight, angle and tubing joint) Misc. screws to hold catch cans to bracket Zip ties to locate tubing. Here is the link to my page -> select Mod -> select dual oil catch cans. My aero webpage Other mods are on there too if interested and I will continue to update. Mostly misc mods till i get some gauges then ill get an AP and then the exhaust. Install was a few hours to figure out the location and making it tidy. I can do this again with parts under 1 hour if done again. The L braket mounts to the body using the same hole as the stock bracket for the black bracket. I did change and use a 1/2 fuel line because it was too close to the coolant reservoir and turbo. I would not recommend mounting the catch cans near the turbo for 3 important reasons - Heat, fire hazard, and heat :naughty:. If a leak develops and drips onto your turbo - guess what ? We go through a lot of trouble to get cold air why hea up these catch cans and lines prior to your intake. And the lines get soft when its too hot. I have not seen any oil for a week but i hardly drive this car. If i need to drain the oil - I will just remove the bracket and remove both the bowls and clean it out. Although there is a purge valve
I've had a catch can for 10k miles now and no oil. And it's still burning oil since I'm a little low when I go in for service. Must be a piston sealing thing. I'm thinking about putting some filtering material in there like stainless steel wool with desicant(sp?) underneath.
WHY ?? If you dont have oil in catch cans why add possible headaches to catch cans. I would not add anything that if it does suck into the intake will harm the internals. If you must get something that is less harmful - Lawnmower airfilter - cut to fit , wash it place into catch cans but only at the lowest and awy from the ports. Objective of catch can is to catch oil not filter air nor debris. If you have particles in that catch can you need to fix it somewhere else
