horn shopping, how loud?

    Hey guys, anyone with a tech book or a spec sheet tell me how loud the stock horn is so I can shop for a comparison?

    if you get anything over 100db its gonna be louder than stock. i believe stock is around 85 db.

    I believe the stockers that came of my car had 110db stamped on them.
    The Hella's come in 113db and 118db.

    The hellas are far louder than stock, but iirc, +3db doubles the level of sound (?).

    Yes, 3 db is equivelent to doubling the volume. To gain that 3 db, you either need to double the amount of speakers, and keep the same amount of power going to them, or double the amount of power going to the speakers already.

    3db is the volume increase resulting from doubling the power; it is not a doubling of volume. You'd need approx a 10x increase in power to double the human ear's perception of volume.
