How do I remove the shifter trim?

Going to be installing a short throw shifter sometime soon(if my order worked correctly). However I don't know how to take the shifter trim off so I can get in there. Don't want to break that. Do I just pull it backwards or is there some other trick?

 

yup, just put your hand in the back part (the side closest to the back seats)shifter boot and just pull up, it comes off very easily.
